Prolific a great survey site.

Just a quick heads up about this site that I'm not sure you know about as I haven't seen it mentioned on the forum yet.

Prolific Academic Review.jpg

The site is a survey site but it's got a twist in that the surveys and questions you get asked, are from Universities around the world and your answers go towards helping students complete their studies.

It's a UK based site, but as far as I know, it's open to international subscribers, and for the last 6 months I've cashed out around £50 a month and I don't think that's too bad. Payment is to a verified PayPal account, and the minimum cash out is only £5.

All I can say is what I've learned from my own experience and for the first couple of weeks after I joined, when I got the emails by the time I logged on, the surveys had been filled so I started to manually check the site.

It was only then when I started to get any success, and as you can see from my post with the screenshot on before, since then I've been doing well.

Yeah, that's what I've found to be the best way- email notifications seem to be somewhat unreliable. I randomly checked the site today a few hours ago and managed to get into 3 surveys, none of which had been sent to my email address. It's probably not worth keeping open all the time and madly hitting F5, but there's no harm in popping by every few hours.

Ever since I cashed out with Prolific, I noticed I am getting surveys a little better than before. They are still slow but I am getting them more often than when I first started. I wonder why that is?

Maybe there's a hidden "reliability" or "activity" rating on prolific? In other words the more you do, the more highly it rates you as genuine and begins to throw things your way. It wouldn't surprise me, as prolific strikes me as a site which emphasises quality.

Just cashed out for the first time via prolific. I have to say, like others, it became easier for me to participate in surveys once I started checking the site manually. I'm looking forward to getting more money from them, as I type this I'm pretty close to the threshold for another cash out. It's also worth noting that Paypal gives you the option to convert your earnings to whatever currency is in your country.

If you notice on your account page, the page that lists all the surveys you've done, there's a rating at the top rating you out of 100. It's only a guess, but maybe that's a reliability score like you say? The more surveys you do, complete and get accepted, the more that score seems to go up, so perhaps that is the case that the more you do, the more reliable you are so it unlocks more?

It is really based on demographics and also what time you happen to log on, as there is no set pattern. I logged on at 2 a.m. once and found one. I do have 100/100 and have made over £250, but there is a trick to using the site. Sometimes you will get a bad gateway error, in that case email or message them and they usually rectify it. Also I recommend opening the study in a new page so you can see how much time you have left. If you are timed out, your study won't count.

I just got my first payment on Prolific Academy. It took me maybe two months to earn this, but it was worth it, since it is in British Pounds instead of American dollars you actually get more money. Thanks to the tip on here, I have been checking the site instead of just letting surveys come to me. It is a fun a little site, and the surveys typically don't take long to do.

Based on this thread I signed up. I have to say this much better than the average survey site. The payments are reasonable for the time the tasks take. The website is a little slow and buggy for me, but nothing bad enough to put me off. I have completed two surveys so far and they were actually pretty interesting. I hope they notify participants of the work is every published.

I use to be active on this site but they stopped sending me surveys. I am permanently logged in and their website is pinned on my browser. I am studying to be a plumber now because Canada have a huge demand for plumbers from my country. Going to an Anglosphere nation like US or Canada is the best way for me to qualify for online jobs. I heard British residents gets the most studies from this site.

For me the site has been extra slow. I have cashed out once but had no surveys for almost two weeks and so I had stopped visiting the site.

More recently, I restarted working on the site but have had only two surveys from them eversince.

Just as a quick update, things are still going pretty well for me with Prolific and I've now cashed out nearly £450 in just less than a year. The surveys do still seem to be a bit hit and miss but if you check around 10 times a day it does seem to be worth it as out of them 10 times you will get 5/6 surveys that are quite short with a better than average reward at the end of them.

£500 a year still isn't going to mean I can give up my job of course, but it's not a bad return for what amounts to maybe 20 minutes of my time everyday so I do think it's worth it still.

Prolific:
Imagined Contact: Part 2 (Two-part study_I)
Greetings from Prolific Academic,

You have a new message from researcher : Eimear Finnegan .

I'm sorry about this - I copied in 20 IDs to Prolific for participants to complete Part 2 of a study that they had begun last week. It said only those 20 were eligible so I made it active...but then somehow opened it to everyone.
As stated in the description, this is the second part of a study that was already started. I don't know what went wrong but I won't be able to pay you as this data is unusable.
I'm very sorry for the inconvenience.
Eimear

For me this site is extremely slow. I have cashed out once after months! Now I have 3 low paying studies since the first payout. It is not my primary source of online income.

I just use an auto-refresher (CFC - check for change is the one I prefer in Firefox, but there are plenty out there for Chrome)

You do get quite a few bonus payments from Prolific, but like nearly every other survey type site, you aren't going to be able to make a reliable income from them so I'm not sure what people want. In 12 months I've earned nearly £600 and while it may not seem a lot compared to a regular paid income, as a side income which all of these sites are meant to be, I don't think we can complain to much.
