Children will not appreciate something that they cannot comprehend. When you learn in school that gold is valuable and that you can actually mine it, did you even dare to mine it for yourself? Same with bitcoin, even if you explain it to them, they will just ignore it. So there's no point in teaching them about bitcoin at all.

We all know how much BTC became popular .. but is it popular enough so teachers talk about in school ? Is it something that kids should learn ?
I have never thought about it,but I think it might be a good idea if teachers would talk about Bitcoin in the schools.Although I think that many teachers are not aware of what Bitcoin means...

If teacher could have some decision power then maybe, but the teaching plan is from government. And currently the plan in my country is over crowded so that there is no time leftover.

My point is , people who study in universities / schools in which they teach a lot of economy should probably be aware of what bitcoin is . Teachers should probably explain to them what it is , how it is changing the world and stuff, what are the advantages of it and disadvantages.

I think I read an article about bitcoins being introduced to kids in school (Australia, if I remember it right). If for simple awareness reasons then I think it would be nice but not necessary. Same thing why stocks, bonds, mutual funds etc are not taught to kids right.

School systems always wait some 20 years for a technology to establish itself, then they jump on it like there is no tomorrow, and if this ever happens, it would be a mediocre programme with some cute pictures.

Even some teachers are not familiar what Bitcoin is and how it works. I don't think it is a must. Unless you are already in college, and taking some finance course, Bitcoin can be discussed.

Now I get. But I think only the first world country will have the capacity to implement such thing because they have the better technologies and more resources to begin with. Third world countries are always reluctant to new technologies and concepts, so it would take some time before they finally embraced the whole idea regarding bitcoin.

I think bitcoin's purpose was not legal. So the trend of blockchain being taught won't be reasonable. Becuase teaching illegal stuff in school does not really make sense. You can see that blockchain has it's set of limits and the legal sides that can be taught. though not in school. I am sure there are some international finance type topics where you may find that they are teaching it. it's possible in that case.

Yeah but do you know when they will want to learn what it is? When they hear the price of 1 BTC :D Bitcoin is a popular topic nowadays in newspapers and other stuff and I think it should be known to teachers who teach economy and stuff.

Im a teacher for Senior high school, I have already integrated BTC in some of my lessons. And a few, just very few had set their eyes on it. Most thought that BTC was illegal. In a few more weeks, I will integrate again cryptocurrencies in some of our activities

I think Bitcoin should be teached in school but in Universities. Lets considered it as a subject. Wherein students can choose either to take it or not. Its not a pre- requisite to other subjects. Its a good thing students would understand about bitcoin. A preparation for the real world. Knowledge is power.

Sounds reasonable. I think commerce and the business administration student should learn it. Becuase it sounds like something they can benefit from. You can see that there are some of the international banks taking interest in BTC and the lumens. So this does sound like a good idea. I wonder how it would be taught though, like who has expertise in it.

True that, but you know new books that are being created could be potentially having information about bitcoin. By books I mean economy/business books.Hopefully countries in which bitcoin is legitimate would allow books with bitcoin info inside.

If it's ever going to be the replacement for "currency", then they would really need to teach it to schools. But it's best they are thought in colleges or senior high. Unless however the country would adapt bitcoin as their currency, then they would require to teach it to much younger individuals.
