The FBI recently reported that a group of people was stealing money from two firms based in Chicago. The scammers were from Nigeria and stole around $17.5 million which were later converted into bitcoin. They carried out phishing attacks against the company by posing as the companies' accountants and later they send the money in bitcoin into an online virtual wallet. The suspects are now under arrest.

I'm not sure if they are really don't care about their future, it's more like they are unable to get affordable education, exploited too much and don't have that many job opportunity. I hope the conditions can improve there soon.
If you are referring to Africa, there enough jobs but the pay package is not encouraging, we have numerous resources but mismanagement has been the major challenge .

Ya, that's because the companies that hire people there don't want to pay people a liveable wage.

The African countries' government should take care of their own resources and not relying too much on foreign companies that only care to exploit them.
It would have easy for the leaders had build or invest on human capacity building and infrastructures but without this it is difficult, it major of all these crime.

It's because politicians don't care about people and only want to enrich themselves. Africa has a lot of natural resources but only a few of them go through the people.

We look forward to better governance so that the rate at which Africans emigrate will be reduced. Lots of cyber crimes everywhere, it is more reason why I feel crypto currency anonymity needs not be full.

The thing is some people are so lazy that they can use their talent to make money legitimately but opt to scam people , very likely they relied on bitcoin anonymity to have commit this crime.

A very bad one that Nigeria is even mentioned, I hope they are arrested and prosecuted, I wish there names are mentioned, may be it could be linked to Hushpuppi.
I read about hush puppi. The article said 11 accomplices were arrested with him and the style of the scam was the same. I didn't hear anything about bitcoin though. If they decide to sell that much bitcoin it could shake up the market.

First of all , I would like to know the source of your information .
However , this act of criminality and anonymous associated with cryptocurrency , is what has prevented it from being legalised in many country .
One can easily withdraw bitcoin without trace .

This is a very bad image for Nigeria, considering that few weeks ago some Nigerians too were also caught for defrauding people of a huge amount of money, I hope this does not have adverse effect on the Nigerian crypto community.

Yeah, though I am not sure if he was in connection with the $14 million bitcoin deal but the perpetrators had used mixer they would have succeed.

It was better to use the Monero currency for this purpose, which has a very high anonymity, they would be almost impossible to find!
You are right because it amongst the top 5 most secured coins now , it mostly reffered to as as privacy coin because it makes it difficult to have access to both sender and recieving addresses. It is most used coin for criminal activities now.

It is good that the criminals did not know about it, because they would not have been caught and punished !!! Probably, they heard only about bitcoins and hoped that it would help them to be with impunity!)))

Yeah only very few knows about this unique feature that monero possessed but now attention has been shifted to monero currently it is the 12th most powerful Crypto currencies with huge market capitalization.

Some dark market sellers are already using Monero to do trade transaction. Criminals are smart and know many things, especially when it comes to digital currency.

Payment is only part of the crime. If the payment is untraceable there will always be some other evidence. Sending money in itself should not be a crime if it's your own money.

You are right, they give more time to study illegal short cut in every money making Making opportunities online. Very likely the privacy features made monero to have this sharp rise in a short time.

As you can see, the development of cryptocurrency has not only positive aspects but also negative ones. But the same thing happens in other areas of life. It is just necessary for the police to improve their knowledge in this area, which will help them to fight crime more effectively!

Man, the development of crypto has nothing to do with this. Do you really think the programmers who develop bitcoin want their project to be used by criminals? Nope. People always forget that bitcoin is just a tool. Like a knife, you can harm people with it but you can also use it for good things.
