As Bitcoin is reaching new heights in 2024, it surpassed the Russian Ruble and became the 14th largest currency in the world, according to data from CoinMarketCap.
Other currencies behind it are the Mexican Peso (MXN), Saudi Riyal (SAR), Thai Baht (THB), and United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED).
The closest currency ahead of Bitcoin is the Swiss Franc (CHF), which could be the next one to surpass in the future.

Bitcoin,and some other crypto currencies, have been on a good upward trend recently. Coinmarketcap was showing bitcoin over $62000. I do not know if this is a new high, remember it going to over $60000 a few years ago. Is there a renewed interest, new investors or the halving due later in the year causing this rise?

The interest of retail investors in the spot Bitcoin ETFs in the US is a major catalyst.
Coupled with the upcoming halving, it results in the rise we are seeing now.
Bitcoin is really close to the all-time high of $69k.
