Instagram marketing vs Facebook marketing.jpg

One of the first questions people seem to ask when starting a new blog, advertising a product, or promoting their website "What is better Instagram or Facebook?". These two social networks are very popular and therefore, it is necessary to examine the two and compare them. This way you'll have the best chance to succeed in your campaign.

Benefits of Instagram:

Reach: The social media site reaches over 800 million active members each month. The site has an average of 500 million people who visit this site and use it daily. Believe it or not, over 80% of these active users are outside the United States. Furthermore, this site attracts more than 1 million advertisers. These are great stats if you are planning a worldwide campaign. You have the possibility of reaching more potential clients that live outside the United States.

Engagement: Instagram seems to have the highest engagement rate of other social media networks. On an average day, the site receives more than 95 million photos and video that is shared by its users. What is excellent about this site is that users give out more likes than any other social media site online. On an average day, the users will give a total of 4.2 billion likes. This shows that people are interested in what is being shared on the site.

Traffic Engagement: For a company, blog site owner or even website owner this is important to understand how long a person will stay on a social media site. The average visitor to Instagram will spend 192 second or 3 minutes on the website when they visit. This rate is higher than any other social media site. According to a study made by Yotpo the people who visit Instagram stay 45% longer than the people who visit on Facebook or Twitter.

Demographic: This is important for companies to understand their targeted audience. The Pew Research group studied the demographics of the site and from that more females use Instagram than males. There is 31% of the women online love to use Instagram on a daily basis. However, don't be alarmed because there are 24% of the men online who use Instagram each day. This site is more popular amount young adults between the ages of 18 t 29. Therefore, if you need to target a younger audience this is an excellent site to consider.

Benefits of Facebook

Reach: So sorry Instagram, Facebook still reaches more active using on a monthly basis. According to the Dremgrow survey the site attracts 2.2 billion users each month. So if you are looking to boost your campaign this is an excellent way to reach more people.

Engagement: When it comes to the member on Facebook engaging on the site and liking the posts this doesn't fare as well as Instagram. However, Facebook still has the second highest engagement rate of all the social media sites online today.

Demographic: Facebook attracts more adults on their site. The site attracts 72% of adults that are online today. Much like Instagram, Facebook attracts a 77% audience of females. Furthermore, they attract a 66% of males that visit the site. Instagram is more popular with the younger audience, where Facebook is more popular with the adult audience. On Facebook, you'll find that the site attracts 82% of the younger population of 18 to 29, 79% of the population 30 to 49 and 64% of the audience 50 to 64. This is very important to know when launching a new campaign.

Ad Performance: If you are considering placing an ad on Facebook you are in luck. The ads are performing extremely well and have yielded an average revenue of $6.82 billion. According to Social Flow, each of the 1.7 billion users on this network is worth $14.17 in annual ad revenue for a company. The site shows a higher click-through rate for the desktop user and a higher CTR rate for mobile users. The ads placed on Facebook seem to do much better than ads places on the web.

As you can see Instagram caters more to the younger audience and has a much higher engagement rate than Facebook. But when it comes to other aspects of Facebook it seems to outperform. Therefore, it is in your best interest to decide on what your campaign is, who you want to target, and then choose the best platform for you.

And Facebook is part of the most visited platform when compared to Instagram , as many users could join and see your ads on their Facebook page
Yeah Facebook has the highest population but I am not the impression from Facebook is usually high when it comes to conversion in online business.

Yeah, from people's opinions it seems Facebook ads is much more effective than Instagram. Facebook also has more users.

Personally Instagram is more effective for marketing because a lot of mature people on Instagram as compared to Facebook and very good number of people om Facebook are just there for socializing not to buy products or services.
There are also matured people on Facebook. I have affiliate marketers who use Facebook ads to make a whole lot of sales. Instagram is effective also.

You may be right, it all depends how much each individuals can explore the different social platforms to see the opportunities in them m

I think facebook is largely used than Instagram. Instagram is mainly used by celebrities and public figure, while Facebook on the other hand is more down to earth, everyone makes use of Facebook,so using Facebook to promote your products is a good one

Yeah more people use Facebook but not very many people use Facebook for marketing nor do they use Facebook to buy goods and services like Instagram.

I don't think there's any better one among the two.
See thing about it is that it depend on what you're trying to promote, what traffic you're looking for and how comfortable you are with the two.

Yeah Facebook ads is more effective , but I have one thought that since Instagram is more costly to use as it requires more data ,then people who makes use of it are probably rich and have high purchasing power than facebook that could be used freely ,don't know if my thought are correct

I got your point but at same time Facebook ads is mostly targeted which makes it very effective. For example, if you're promoting something related to health, your ads will only be shown to people who are interested in health products. This can be know by Facebook algorithm through their browsing history or searches.

Based on your explanation I believe that Facebook should
even be the best for advertisement and promotion of affiliate products since Facebook has a higher number of visitors than Instagram. But I don't know why most people preferred Instagram.

The thread is very comprehensive and incisive. It comes with handy information and I wouldn't agree less that Facebook as the largest users and as a result, it's the best for products promotion.

I have been opportunity to use the both of them before and I can see that Facebook is clear of Instagram even though Instagram is still a very useful tool for your business. Facebook has a lot of users and the advertisement is also top-notch especially for target marketing.

Absolutely the user base of Facebook can't be compared to that of Instagram but I believe everybody is using it based on how they understand the tactics and the huge number of followers they have. Though I think it is easier to do manual sales on Instagram than Facebook especially if you have large followers and you're yet to monetize your page.

Personally, I prefer Facebook marketing to Instagram marketing this is because Facebook has a wide number of users and it is much more cost-effective in terms of resources and you did be able to reach your target audience, because they are different pages for different products and services. On Instagram, you may need to pass through an online influencer if you really need your products to be patronized.

This is worth reading, I have always known that Instagram have an upper edge over Facebook looking at the traffic it generates and the engagement it builds.
Most marketers usually kick start from Instagram before redirecting to Facebook because the algorithm is designed such that even if there is a backdate your followers will still be able to view your content at ease.

yes you are right.

In terms of dynamics between social media networks are very similar in the way in which they operate. For a business who is just starting I think I will advise you to put a lot of your energy into Facebook because it actually has more social media user active followers and there are so many ways that you can be able to market again.

Facebook is really good in marketing because of the numbers of people using but Instagram is also good in some countries, here they are majority of people who don't have Instagram because they think it consumed a lot of data.

The fact is that there are more people on Facebook but Instagram with less traffic seems to be more effective in terms of conversion of products to sales when you use it for marketing as compared to Facebook where more people are there for just social entertainment.
