DuckDuckGo is a mainly a privacy-focused search engine that claims to put privacy first and does not profile its users. The search engine also claims to not gives its users different search result based on the region they access the internet, aka no personalized search result. Launched in 2008 in Pennsylvania, USA, DuckDuckGo has become the main alternative search engine to Google. Despite this, DuckDuckGo still relies on Google's index, and various other search engines' APIs that makes it not entirely independent on its own. The company has also donated quite a sum to various other projects that focus on digital privacy and anti censorship movements. Even though they claim to be censorship resistant, sadly they do still censors certain sites and elements from appearing on their search result.
