Weeks ago, the code source of one of the most used operating system in the previous years (Windows XP) got leaked on 4chan by some unknown user, the code source was confirmed that it belongs to windows XP after a youtuber compiled it and uploaded it on youtube.
The issue here, is that everyone now have access to that code source including hackers, the other issue is that, a lot of schools, governments and offices are still using it, which means they are not safe anymore from those hackers and the only thing that's protecting them right now is their firewall/network, since hackers have the code source and know every basic hole and bug in the system.

What brought about such leak? I don't know much about such things but I wouldn't expect something so important to be easily accessed and leaked like that.

I read about this since last week. I think everyone using it should take caution to avoid being have as hackers are on the prowl to make good of this leak.

well, only companies that are still using this, that should be aware of this, i don't think that small individuals still use, because the lack of support for a lot of softwares such as web browsers etc...

Okay then it simply means in a nutshell any one using this code should just be careful to avoid being hack into which is the main reason for the avoidance now right?

when hackers are having access to a certain source code, they know every single bug they could use for their future hacks, which means, that they will surely attack anyone who's still using the system

This is isn't funny at all for the users. I hope all these hacking activities will be nip in the bud as soon as possible so that users can conviniently use their accounts without stress

There is one optimistic thing about that situation: People can port windows apps on Mac, Linux, Android etc. Creating emulator is more easy with that leak. So many people looking for Adobe PS CC in Linux or Windows apps on android etc. We can see some dev stuff near future.

It will definitely be bad for the windows as they claim their software is end to end encrypted and if anyone data is leaked , it may lead to file a case on windows company.
this is not a leak of data users, this is the code source of the operating system that's owned by microsoft that got leaked, the only risk is for instituions that are still using it and not everyone else

or they can just upgrade to any windows that's still supported (windows 8.1 and 10 for now), there is no need to move to another platform if you are still using windows XP (and i doubt you do)

Oh dear, I'm using Ubuntu for software engineering. I hate Windows shit but sometimes I need that. Do you really think that there is an idiot that still using XP for her/his personal pc? Do you really think that hackers try to hack someone's cheap XP pc? Nah, they wont try that. Last time I saw a windows was minimum 5 years ago. ?

So many institutions switched Windows 10 Enterprise version which needs less system components like ATMs or elevators. And hacking XP is not that hard. There is ton of information if you make little research online. Windows warn everybody to upgrade 10 thausands of times. If they are still using it, they don't care these kind of hacking.

are you sure that everyone moved to windows 10 ?

I think problem is not being better for them. Main problem is they don't want to pay money for Windows 10 and they don't want to learn how to use windows again. Generally these people are old and they don't want to leave their habits. If they really want to use it that much, they can switch to ZorinOS for free. That is more secure way to use old gui.

it's not a matter of the price, it's a matter of compatibility and way of usage, ZorinOS isn't popular (atleast for people that aren't involved with software's world) which means that software support there is going to be so bad and people have to learn how a whole other operating system works

Actually ZorinOS 80% looks same with XP. It has Windows app support in premium version. There is no need to learn it from beginning. Switching XP to Zorin is easier then XP to 10. You can run 95% of your XP applications on Zorin.

I wonder why the hacker would do such a thing to ruin the integrity of Windows XP. Yes, there are still users of that operating system. In fact, our old desktop at home is running on Windows XP and is our main computer at home. That is so bad of that hacker.

This is definitely a very bad news for Microsoft as a company and I really hope that those that were involved in the heart are caught and punished accordingly. I believe that Microsoft can just make some adjustments to the operating system and then make the users to install and update which will contain a security patch so that people cannot harm them
