Let's pretend I hacked someone's Facebook account and substract valuable informations from private messages.

Can I go to jail if they catch me somehow?

Exactly, and the authority will push to gather evidence for them. You are right, some are not aware of it. But it is really sad to read bad comments and bashing whenever I am browsing on the newsfeed, and I am thinking, "is this what technology did to people?"
There's nothing wrong with technology it's just people using it in a wrong way. The mindsets of the people are the main factors why technologies have been abusing these days. Well, we can't stop them from doing that different person different attitude. Maybe just lead a good example it could be a good way to lessen those bashers.

Yeah, I guess that is the only way we can do, and just ignore the hate comments around. Yes it is not the technology, it is just being used as a way to do this act.

Well, I don't think that you can go to jail, but hacking any websites it is illegal, so be careful and think twice before you do that, it can also have other consequences. Maybe a fee or a restriction order

He will not propaply get u jailed but u will mostly get ur account termibated, hope he has no friends hackers that will make ur situation more more bad

I think it depends on which country do you live in and what is the rule of the land for such a crime/act. However, as per the International cyber law hacking is a punishable crime depending upon the intention of law breaker. Yes, you will go to the jail for hacking someone's FB account.

You'll most likely face jail time yes,two types. "unauthorized access to a computer system" or "fraud". I wouldn't recommend it but then you have to consider how likely is of you getting caught by the auhorities.

What is not good is not good and it highlu condeminable like all other have express their sincere feeling on the levity of such act and the consequences of such act. It is not advisable

I don't see much gain from hacking anyone's account. Because there is not much benefit. and we are only going to waste the time on personal data. that's what I have learned.

We have the 'Computer Misuse Act' in my country. If you hack someone's facebook or an account on any other social networks then this is punishable by law. For such offences, you may have to pay fines and you may be imprisoned.

Hacking someone's account will not put you to jail(for my country sometimes it is no big deal), but if that account is owned by a celebrity, politician who has the power, then surely you should
prepare yourself for a case.

Yes. Just as trying to break into someone's home is a crime even if you fail, so is trying to break into their account. In particular, note that such laws are not normally written so as to distinguish based on the purpose of the account. Legally, hacking someone's Facebook account is no different than hacking their online bank account.
(Now, stealing money in the latter case would be a separate charge. But the actual charge of breaking into the account is no different.)

There are
some reported incident that some account got hacked and used it for scamming people. At first, they will try to communicate with you and send you a link which will be their key to hack your account. For this reason, one can have the ground to sue
the hacker.

It is really possible that you can go to jail. Hacking someone's account is illegal. It is not really a good thing do. If ever someone hack your account you will not feel good right.

There is a possibility but it will require a lot if investigations too. It is possible to trace the location of
the hacker but to find who 's the real hacker is the challenge. They can simply make alibi with their deeds, unless there will enough evidence and witnesses.

Yes thats right. It needs lot of investigation to do. Hard to be proven. Still there is a possibility that you can be caught and can be in jail. And it is not really good to hack someone's account.

If they can be caught in the act that they are using someone's account, then that can be used as a strong evidence to file a case against them.

What is your reason for hacking accounts? Whatever it is, it's always not good.Mind your own business. There are so many important things that needs your attention more than hacking an account, besides it will never going to give you a good result in the end.

Regardless the location or regions, it is bad cos no country will support such, it is not advisable. Sign up with sites through my facebook account is what I don't like cos such act can be perpetrated through that. It a high punishable offence. If you are caught in my country

i think it depends on what country you belong, there are countries that have a law regarding cyber crime and ofcourse there is a penalty for what you did. if you steal or hack something and use their infos to in bad way then you need to face the penalty of it.

Cyber crime here is a punishable offence here in India, and there is special cyber crime detection cell in the crime branch of every local police station. If you hack someone's online ID and use it for some nefarious activities, you could surely land in jail.
