TranscribeMe Review.jpg

I found out about this site called TranscribeMe where they pay you to transcribe audio to text.

I signed up, but can't seem to get past the final exam, I'm on my third try. I was just wondering, has anyone tried this site? Is the pay worth the effort and time? Or are there better transcribing sites?

You just nailed it. I mean all the reasons I stopped transcription jobs. There are days my head will pound just from deciphering correct pronunciation of certain words in different accents. The stress wasn't worth the pay for me at all.

I know, right?! I just don't get how some people are able to spend so much time on those sites and really make a go of it. Not for me - just too stressful, especially when you see the clock ticking furiously and you're running out of time?

I've noticed a trend since COVID-19 went 'viral'. A lot of sites have now closed down for new members. I've missed out on quite a few sites because they say they've been hit with too many applications, some of which they're still keeping on a waiting list.

Am very shock to hear about this,so they no longer accept new application?and am also suprise that a program like this will chose to closed application due to excess application while many site are even looking for members, not doubt majority of people turn in online and started looking for something to do online during the covid 19 and some site was populated.

I tried many transcription sites and they make harder the tests... I think they have fulfilled there worker's need for the supply they get...so they will be low chance for new workers..

No, you can still apply to join Transcribeme - I was talking here in general terms and mainly about teaching sites, which is where I'm looking to go. The good thing about TranscribeMe is that I've heard the audio files you work on are very short. Go ahead and give it a shot!

Okay, I was definitely hesitant about this at first. I have been looking into different side jobs that I can do from my house or from my college campus and I've found a Lot of scams that try to present themselves as real opportunities. I really like doing transcription work and thought I'd give Transcribeme a chance, and they are actually legit! They don't ask for a lot of personal info unless you want to move up in the job (and even then it's just a photo, birth name and DOB). There's not any type of interview process, which is why I was hesitant, but you take two exams: one to qualify for the job and one to prove you understand English grammar and the style of transcribing that they want. Once you pass you can start taking jobs that are usually about 2-4 min long and for the most part it's easy, simple, and fun. Great for when you're bored at school between classes or have some extra free time at home.

Oh, TranscribeMe is definitely one of the legit transcription sites alongside Rev, GoTranscript and Scribie. Did you qualify? The thing about TranscribeMe that appeals to me is the short audio files. I have all the required attributes like good grammar, an eye for detail, familiar with various accents etc What I don't have enough of is the patience it requires to transcribe poor audio files LOL

The entrance examination is a bit difficult to do and so boring why working with the, the pay you less than you expected

That's interesting to know. But I do have to agree that transcription work pays way less than is usually initially promised. Or rather, the way it's presented, you get the idea you stand to earn a tidy sum when in fact, you have to slog away for LONG hours to earn a few pennies. The poor quality audio files slow you down so that you end up working for hours on a 10-minute file that the site may ultimately reject. And when that happens, all the work, time and energy you put into that transcription was all for nothing because you won't get paid for any rejected work.

I also try this and I failed on the exam too. it is a legit site, some of my friends works on this for full time because it pays a decent amount. its just that they have a high standard that I can't meet.

If you are seriously looking for transcription jobs, you could always post your services somewhere and have competitive pricing, for instance, you could go onto Fiverr or Upwork and try there, or try BTC freelancing services. The possibilities are endless as long as you are competent enough to market your business.

I don't know anyone who is a fellow Filipino, who works for such sites. The test is difficulty as I tried it myself. I eventually gave up and started accepting local ones meant for research (like interviews for thesis etc)

Hello! I wouldn't recommend Upwork. It is favorable to those with established reputation, etc. It is unfair that you will bid against hot shots, and of course the client will really choose the highest rated rather than the new ones. Sad fact I guess

Thanks for the input! I was just listing some random sites that I knew of, but yeah, stay away from Upwork... oof

It does not work in my country. I am beginning to hate working and making money online, it is extremely hard especially from a third world country, is there any other get paid to write websites that is available worldwide.

Pardon, but where are you from?
I'm saying specifically that most sites have specific regulations and what not based on the laws that are in place. If your country isn't allowed, it could be due to the countries regulations on that specific thing. Sorry that you aren't able to get it in your country dood.

actually there are few of our fellow countrymen work on this and I tell you they earn a lot on this. maybe this is not just for us. specially for me because i have hearing problems, though some of my friends teach me ways to pass the exam it only takes a lot of time to understand the system.

Oh really? I really tried but I can't understand the audio. However, most of the people I know are into english tutoring, etc like 51 talk.
