South Korean crypto exchanges are banning the altcoin from their platforms after upgrading the Litecoin network.
In South Korea, five crypto exchanges have delisted Litecoin. The delisting follows a recent network upgrade designed to boost user privacy. Since the introduction of "MimbleWimble" important transaction data can be anonymized.
In a company release Upbit justified the move with the Specific Financial Information Act, a law according to which strict disclosure requirements for crypto exchanges apply in South Korea and anonymous transactions are prohibited.
Users of the platform now have until June 20 to get rid of their Litecoin. After that, the exchange will stop all support for the cryptocurrency.
