Do people still buy used clothing on ebay and other market sites, or just go to second hand stores locally? I was going through my closet today and saw that I have old clothes I don't always wear and some I haven't for years.

I also have 2 boxes of clothes that were given to me by a friend who no longer needed them and wanted to clear up space in their house and side room. Mostly shirts, but some pants like jeans.

I got to thinking that maybe I could sell some of these or all of them that are not used if there is still a market for it. Or is it too competitive to sell like that anymore?

Exactly my point, if your clothes are branded and still looks good, you can still sell it woth your friends or online if you want. Make it half of the original price
and I am pretty sure many will be interested.

I think its popular all over and not even clothes, anything which have some value can be sold easily for money but i see most give away as charity but surely it can help earn money

It depends on everybody how prefers to do things,it can be given away as charity as "SUPER SINGH" mentioned in his post above or can be sold,I think,if those clothes are of higher quality...

I would never buy old clothes so i don't think its a good way but may be there are many that are interested in buying old branded clothes and they may sell it afterwards after making some required changes. So it looks like a good way to earn.

I know, there are many people, who are making money by selling old clothes, but I was not really interested in that type of business,so I do not know much things about it,how things work there.

I think there are no options in India to earn money by selling clothes like that but I think there may be some junk dealers to whom we can sell clothes to earn.

This kind of business somehow works here in my country, some people wants to but cheap clothes, so instead of buting new clothes, they go for the used one which is a lot cheaper.

I think that you can still sell those clothes like lovely highlighted. You can even do a yard sale of you have a lot of people in your neighborhood. You never know.

I heard a lot about these yard sales but they aren't any popular here so we cannot expect to earn from there by selling old clothes or things like that.

Some people from the other barrio are doing it.They sell
their old clother along with their old stuffs. There are items that still looks good as new so people are attracted to buy.

I would love to try this one but I think it's least popular in India and still many don't like to shop online but hope fully things change in future then it can be a good way

As you are from the Philippines also, I know you are aware of the proliferation of ukay-ukay(second-hand clothes, bags and shoes) here>It is really so possible to sell some of our second-hand clothes and the like, by having them displayed on your garage or your yard Most people are so interested in buying second-hand things. And a lot of online selling sites have also emerged, where you can have your used things sold at a low price of course.

Nice to know about that buddy. I don't know if these things are in India or not as there are many markets of which I'm not aware and I have a feeling that we may have these sort of places where they sell these goods.

Yup, and these "ukay-ukay" stores have classes too, you can choose
from branded or ordinary clothes( and other stuffs), the price will depend mostly on the brand and the quality of the item.

Yes,I think the same, older clothes even if are not brand new if they are from famous brands might be sold or might be worth more.I think better know about it clothes traders,as they have more experience in it.

You are doing right decision because one can't afford to buy in less price too. My mom gives some times free, but what we find with these people is, they drink and waste money for the unnecessary things.
I always like to donate some money to the poor people those who sat at the temples, it was one of my best habit in life to donate atleast a penny. When we die, we aren't going to carry all those things including money. Life is too short to make everything perfect in time.
I think you can profit by buying thing pretty low and selling them at least 10 percent higher than the normal cost. That is just good business.

I think many traders are doing that, buying cheaper and selling at higher price, because that is the only way to make some profit out of it.Though there is some experience needed, how to do it the right way.

I know someone who did this pretty often with children's clothing that she found in thrift stores and garage sales. She looked for certain popular brands (Hanna Andersson, Gymboree, etc.) in good condition and sold them on eBay. It made a nice supplemental income for her. I've considered it, but I'm not nearly as organized as she was and am worried I'd miss shipping dates and such.

I have no idea about the cloth traders
but there are some people here who
buys old clothes from the other country
then sell it here for cheaper price.

That is true. Although, I am not a fan of them. Though, my husband is, because he said that the items are imported and branded. Usually, what he buys are those jackets from abroad. However, he ends up having a lot which eventually he would give away because he isn't using some anymore realizing that they don't suit his taste after all. ;):(
