Do people still buy used clothing on ebay and other market sites, or just go to second hand stores locally? I was going through my closet today and saw that I have old clothes I don't always wear and some I haven't for years.

I also have 2 boxes of clothes that were given to me by a friend who no longer needed them and wanted to clear up space in their house and side room. Mostly shirts, but some pants like jeans.

I got to thinking that maybe I could sell some of these or all of them that are not used if there is still a market for it. Or is it too competitive to sell like that anymore?

This is a good business as long as your clothes still look good. Many people buy used clothes so they can save more money, well not only clothes, you can also sell used bag and shoes.

It works. I have a friend before who used to sell used branded clothes online and she really had a good earning from it. She even bought artists used clothes and resell it online.

I don't think that many people nowadays buy second hand clothes online on ebay or other store unless it's something unique, expensive brand, vintage or something like that. All online shops have sales all the time and you can get great bargains on top brands.

Me and my wife are planning to put up an online bussiness...
Can somebody give us an idea what is the best online business at this time of the year?
How much you willing to invest?

Yes you can, i do that too but not so old clothes it's like slightly used and branded shirts like Hollister,USPA, Aeropostale and Ralph Lauren shirts,etc..i earn some money through that..I'm sellinb them on Facebook group pages,Olx and Carousell..

Here in the Philippines that type of business is really good when you have an average budget, try visiting here sometime and watch out for stores commonly called "Ukay-ukay" which means a lot of clothes and more that are sold at a decent and affordable price!

You'll see what I mean if you get there, meanwhile good luck! :)

I think Selling old clothing will do well if you sell to your locals through facebook. I dont think selling on ebay is a great idea, the buyers who buy those if you sell your old clothings really cheap for the purpose to donate to charity.

Selling old clothing can be a good idea. And there are plenty of people who are in need of such service. And they can benefit from low cost clothing and other stuff. So if you consider that part it'd be reasonable to say that old clothing is good enough on that basis. You can see that ebay and amazon both have such options. I guess it is upto people to make use of such type of the apps and then sell stuff.

Craiglist is another option though it may require you to physically meet the buyer in some location.

You can give it a try,but there are many things involved to sell online. It is worth only if you have a bigger business plan. Then would it be worth the hustle.

I believe in donating old cloths of mine. Your concept is good, many poor people buy used cloths. I want to make a business of brand new tshirts designed by me.

Clothes that you never got to wear or that are still kept inside the shopping bags are good for resell online. Branded and special edition or limited edition would be your best bets. People shopping online have the means and perhaps have discerning taste. I think used clothing could go to a garage sale. You could either do it on your own or go directly to a thrift shop and sell them your stuff in bulk and give them a good margin.

I never sold old clothes, most of the time we donate them, or exchange them for something which something usable from exchangers.
You can try selling in marchent websites, if this won't work, then exchange them with some other thing.

That's a good idea.By the way,I did the same thing:I gave my clothes, that I didn't needed ( were in good state, many of them)to the relatives and the other ones to charity.

I never sold old clothes online. I don't think that someone is gonna buy old clothes but you can try on advertising sites like ebay or craigslist. I suggest give them for free to poor and needy people they deserve more than selling them.

yes we should earn some good deeds too, not only money is everything, even in my country everyone do the same, gave old clothes which are in good condition to relatives or charity.

It takes longer to find people who would buy though. Better just give away to the needy.
Agree but the thing is that craiglist is one good place. Also the dollar store is another place to share the clothes. You can also give away the stuff so that people can put their stuff in there. And on that note you can see that clothing on that scale would be lot better. So another thing is that old clothing is something people do want to buy. because it's better to have something than nothing. so think about that in this context.
