I do not panic when a site closes down. The do that because they do not earn enough. The only time I get a bit miffed is when they run away with the booty.
What is your view on this?

I do not panic because I do not rely on any one site for my income. Earning online is like a side job for me. It's extra. So even if a site suddenly closes and runs off with my money, I won't panic. It'd suck, yes, but it isn't the end of the world. I'd rather move on instead of sulking over something that can't be changed.

You seem to share the same views as mine. They close down when they run into losses and rightly so but they should have the courtesy to inform their users before doing that. When blogjob was having difficulties they allowed us to delete posts which could be posted elsewhere.

If posts you deleted are still indexed and you go ahead and publish that content on other site(s), your content will become duplicate, now there's a lot of debate regarding duplicate content and scrapers etc but rule of thumb is as follows, original content will always rank first, where most traffic from search engines will go? Sure on first site.

I had also deleted my account there. Before publishing one must recheck if they appear in Google Search Same was the situation with wikinut They permitted deletion

It depends on my situation. If the site is the only revenue earning site I know or i have, then I feel bad. I am the kind of person who are willing to work hard to earn more, but if the site will only feel me, it will become the worst for me. I have my offline jobs as of the moment, so I think I will not be affected when the site closes down, because in the first place, i will not put 100% effort on the site due to busy schedule.

However, it is not good when the site closes down without paying what they owe. They will surely be bash by the members and will receive bad reviews.

@Miya It is not just money but we lose friends and that is the sad part. When myLot stopped paying and I still continued I could not find any of my friends there with whom I had interesting interactions. Even till today I do not see them despite the site having come back and now paying. Having said that I feel we should be prepared for such situations in this transitory writing world.

@Grecy095 I do not know if you were at tinycent. They are the biggest rogues. They have shifted the entire content to a new site Gotmatter and we cannot see our content there nor can we login. The only time you see your post there is to check it with what you have stored in your local folder through google search. The worst thing is the owner had friendly relations with all of us and even spoke to us over the phone and showed great concern. We never knew he was preparing for this crime.

I confess, I panic. I spent literally many hours on LB. And no payment for 3 months. And there is no way it is going to come back. So I am thinking that it is better to shut down such sites. I'd openly use affiliate and referral link there to get my money out. And hopefully that will work out for me.

@overcast What has happened at LiteracyBase is shocking. They were doing everything in their power to keep their users happy and the owner used to regularly interact with them. But suddenly that stopped. Even reporting of plagiarised content is still there. Plagiarising there is going on in full swing. May be we users do not know if there is a nexus there that helps the site earn even with those plagiarised blogs.

I was in one of those writing sites but fortunately I had cashed out before the site went down. I wasn't going to panic anyway as it was $10 but that would for sure be a lot of time wasted. I felt bad for the people who let their point accumulate and spent so much time on it though. This is why I always try to cash out when ever I hit the minimum.

@kamal The terms and conditions allow them to resort to such malpractices and users have no say in the matter. Users should therefore be prepared that this state of affairs is a possibility and not get flustered when they see it happening.

I don't care if they go down. They deserve. Now spam and other things if happened there I don't mind. For three months they didn't pay. I have 40$ pending there. I am not going to fall for any such sites now. I am writing on my own site and PL for few months.

I was there too last year. The site owe me $15 and another $15 which I didn't cashout since I got frustrated not getting paid on my second one. I was paid the first one, but I never heard about the site after that. The site even had a dummy sites that they transferred all of the articles from Tinycent. I felt sad because Blogjob has just closed down and this site fooled most of their members.

@Grecy095 Such kind of cheating is pretty rare, considering he was so friendly and used to speak to so many over the phone. He too was taken for a ride by a couple of users who had views by the thousands by using fraudulent methods. What happens with sites is that these kind of views benefit them as well and so they get tempted to overlook it but Google is no fool. They cancelled their Adsense account.

Well, nobody couldn't react negatively when site closes shop especially an online income generating site. Those who are earning less wouldn't actually panic, but for those who are too active and efficient in updating their posts would, of course, be shocked especially when they have a big payment to receive. What they can do, anyway? Nothing but to accept the sad reality.

First, I feel like all the effort and time invested gone without paid. This really made me feel sad, but it just a minor income, have to admit. Second, try to cash out if possible. Anyway, the site always fail to pay no matter how the members push and urge, I believe.
I think it's always good to request for cash out when reach the minimum level, not to accumulate too much there as it is not a bank, right?
So, what we can do is let it be and let it gone!
And, get another good and new boat for sailing! ;)

After the end of great sites such as Helium, Squidoo and Bubblews, it does not shock me when a writing site collapse. If these sites can be shut down any writing site will be shut down.

Can't agree more! Bubblew was a magic and shock to those whom have made few hundred dollar per month. After that, no site can be survived or last for forever, no such magic anymore!
