Ethereum's cryptocurrency, Ether (ETH), climbed above $2,000 after the successful completion of the Shapella upgrade, which transformed the network to a more energy-efficient proof-of-stake consensus mechanism. The upgrade may lead to decreased supply as investors lock in ETH, with increased demand from successful upgrades. Institutional investors remain cautious about staking until the exit queue stabilizes, but analysts predict little impact on price from the upgrade. Bitcoin rose 1.8% for the day to around $30,375, while the Market Index was up 3% for the day. Gold also rose above $2,050.
