Polygon has launched its zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM) technology on Ethereum's mainnet, allowing for more transactions in less mainnet blockspace. The technology allows for the computation of something off-chain on layer-2, and then verifying everything back on Ethereum in a succinct manner. Like zkSync Era, Polygon's zkEVM is not yet decentralized, but a multi-million dollar bounty program and continuous audits will be in place. The prover for Polygon's zkEVM has been audited and is open-source, but conscientious security measures are still necessary. Polygon hopes its new offering will eventually become decentralized, but users are cautioned to be cautious when interacting with smart contracts.
