Many believe that the use of crypto means that they are anonymous and they cannot be traced, and that is why there is so much illegal activity that is being funded by crypto. However, it is important to remember that the wallet that we use to store our funds, such as coinbase, does to a certain extent have a portion of our information which can be used to track us.

According to a recent article, there FBI and SEC has made 1914 requests for user data. This of course is, from my point of view, related to some sort of investigation and whilst there are users all around the world that make use of coinbase, it is said that 58% of these requests were from the US. What do you guys think of this?/ Do you suppose that perhaps there may be a way to trace the crypto? Will crypto stop being used for illegal activities?

If so, could this be a huge stepping stone to making crypto legal globally?

Perhaps they are planning to create a way through which cryptocurrency can be traced but as for me , I think they want to use it to regulate tax invasion

As much as i think many people people may be against this idea, if this does actually happen i think that it will be a great thing. In fact i believe that this will probably be the stepping stone to legalizing crypto globally if it can be regulated in this way.

I will agree with you if they actually have this plan at heart . It seems they have a hidden agenda behind this which might be aimed at controlling cryptocurrency transactions to favour their interest

well the us has some states like where crypto is legal and in others crypto can not be used for any purpose , so I guess they want to make unified approach towards accepting it and get a chunk of the market in my opinion

True. Or perhaps these are criminal lawsuits that they are pursuing and the requests are simply to secure the evidence that they need to make the conviction. At this point it is hard to say, but i guess in time we will see this more clearly.

Yeah, sure their plan isn't for the best interest of those involved. It seems they have a motive behind this. I don't even think controlling bitcoin at this point is even possible

In my opinion, although cryptocurrencies are not re-tradable, it would not be so bad if a little information is known about what the people who own companies or platforms that carry out said transactions, in order to know who to report in cases of scams.
Yeah, you are so right but I still feel that the motive behind wanting access to the data of users goes beyond that. Maybe for some regulations of some sorts, I don't really know.

The interference of government and government agencies in the crypto currency communities keeps increasing everyday, this is because they would like to shutdown cryptocurrencies as they cannot regulate its use. Frauds, illegal transactions of drugs, arms and ammunitions are being carried out daily using Fiat currencies with so many cases ongoing globally that government security agencies are swamped because of lack of man power and credible information but it seems instead of resolving the cases already on their hands government every where are on a witch hunt to bring down crypto currency by citing excuses like illegal transactions.

Even with all the information that will be made available to them , they can't fully control cryptocurrency scam activities because of the nature of cryptocurrency .

This is one of the problems first people that established crypto currency failed to include tracer, that is why it has become a save heaven for scammers.

This will in turn check mate the activities of the users and improving security for its transactions. Coin wallet owners should include social security number as a requirement for a new registration. Sam.

Well , this is true however making or creating a teacher within any cryptocurrency transaction can take away some aspect of decentralization from cryptocurrency itself .
