With the growth in automation and machine learning, certain task that was once performed by human are now better performed by machines.

When it comes to A.I replacing programmers this is a hot debated topic with some suggesting that this is impossible cause someone needs to program and maintain these machines in the first place.

What do you think, do you think that at some point A.I will be so good that machines can end up programming themselves without any human help/intervention?

AI would not replace human programmers. I have tried using Chat GPT to write codes for a program, it did excellently well to generate codes that gave the framework of the program but I had to debug and do minor tweaks in the code for it to work well. To a large extent, AI would help programmers but would not replace them.
That's what so many people fail to understand, yes, chatgpt or any artificial intelligence model can write a code for you, but it can never be accurate or consistent, it takes experience as a programmer to be able to debug and filter out the necessary codes needed for the task or rather project.

Humans are always needed in the field of programming because programming involves complex problem solving , accurate results which the robots may not be able to produce. Humans intelligence cannot be expected from the artificial intelligence based robots.

A video on YouTube is not the ideal solution to be a programmer because just one month the method that was working in the past is no longer working so you may find like a small example on React Redux that extraReducers without builder got removed while it works for the video tutor then it is hard to search for code on Stack Over Flow and this takes a lot of time for small Saga application with React Redux while it will not be the case when AI bot helps you to build your application it provides latest RTK code and sorry for using technical terms so many of you that are not web developers will not understand me.

When one sees how programs present and appear, it is the creativity of the programmer. That's why different programs for the same task would have different interfaces. Phasing out human programmers entirely would lead to the rise of apps that are monotonous in appearance and behaviour. That's why human programmers can't be phased out .

Why just programming? There is no arena where AI has no access. Unless one puts a brake on its activity sky is the limit where AI can go or should I see space is the limit where AI can go?

It is a scary trend and we need to keep a vigil. May be the only place where AI will not go is perhaps manual labour.

The question of whether AI will replace programmers is a thought-provoking one. While AI technology is advancing rapidly and becoming more capable, it's unlikely that it will completely replace programmers anytime soon. Programming involves not just writing code, but also problem-solving, creativity, and understanding complex systems. These are skills that are deeply rooted in human intelligence and experience. Instead of replacing programmers, AI is more likely to augment their abilities, making them more efficient and effective in their work. AI tools can help automate repetitive tasks, suggest solutions, and assist in debugging code. Ultimately, the human element of programming, including critical thinking and decision-making, will remain essential in creating innovative and impactful software solutions. So, while AI will undoubtedly change the way programmers work, it's unlikely to eliminate the need for skilled human programmers altogether.
