Ever since the Edward Snowden fiasco, one is really finding it hard to repose faith in web hosting companies based in the US. Additionally, in the US, there are quite a lot of laws undermining the essence of privacy. Most European countries are now being used as alternatives to the US for web hosting by individuals and enterprises alike. Their pricing is not much higher than that of standard web hosts like Hostgator, Godaddy, Namecheap, etc. I think it's much better to use any of these countries for hosting your website if you do not want your site to get shut down someday by the annoying US agencies on flimsy grounds.
