Saving part of your monthly income is a desirable attitude. This is because it helps you to have some money that you can use to solve problem especially problems that come unannounced.
What percentage should one save from his total monthly earning ?, I think 40% is good . What is your opinion on this ?

The percentage to save depends on the expenses you incurred. If your expenses isn't much, you could save 25% of your earnings but if otherwise you may not be able to save that much.
And, if you allow me, I would also judge this with respect to income. I say this because I know that unfortunately sometimes there are salaries or pensions so low that it is already hard to reach the end of the month, just to live and pay taxes, unfortunately!

Personally I feel there is no right percentage, it all depends on the individual, we all have different income and things we do, so it's best you save according to your pocket, after you have settled the various necessities, save the amount you can cope with

Well, it depends on your level of income against expenditure. Regardless, I think the start point should be between 20 - 30%. That should be a comfortable start point for middle class.
That's exactly the yardstick to estimating the percentage to save out of your monthly Income. It could be a bit higher if you have lesser expenses.

In all sincerity, expenses aren't fixed and that makes our income not to be stable too. What would determine the percentage to save would be the amount we spent on needs in that period.

Well, on this fact, you are more than right. In fact, I hadn't thought that, unfortunately, each of us often has to deal with extraordinary unexpected expenses!

I always prefer to save 30% just the usual saving for future use, the 20% i save for monthly emergencies then divide 50% across my basic needs, bills and spending allowance.

The unforeseen expenses surfaces sometimes and could lead to extra spending from the usual. Sometimes, your expenses would be minimal, and you will be able to save much.

Indeed. I can see in our case. Sometimes in my family we are able just to save something money. But other times (and quite often!), due to such expenses, this results to be almost impossible for us!

it is important for people to save some certain percentage of their monthly income and they also invest some percentage. I think saving about 30% of your monthly income is okay.

Yeah, right. It is very important for one to at least save of the money earned. There is no specific amount though. Just calculate your budget well to know how much you can afford to save each month.

Depend on marital status. If you are single you have less expenses but if you are married then sometimes your monthly incom is not enough. For singles i think i can save upto 30% of my monthly income.

Yeah, true. Someone's 70% may not be enough to take care of his monthly expenses. So, yeah budgeting is very important because it helps you to avoid unnecessary expenses.

You have said it right. The amount/percentage to save out of monthly salary or income is dependent on the size of salary/income and your liability.

The exact percentage to save from ones income is not achievable. It would fluctuate and it isn't a fixed value. You may be lucky to save above the speculated figure and I could be otherwise.

I was born in user highspeed's country, in spite of being established in Latin America since quite long time and I can confirm there are such salaries and pensions so small that people can be forced to beg for help. No way to save even the 1%. I have third aged friends still living in Italy only earning a 300 euros pension, while in Italy people can't even pay half of a rent of an apartment. A third aged friend of mine is able to survive only because he lives in the countryside, he grows his own food and he owns the house where he lives. The 300 euros pension goes away to pay taxes, bills and to maintain a car (if you live in the countryside, you must have a car to move). No member families to maintain because his daughters are married and have their household. But in a city, he couldn't survive. This shameful situation don't hit only the third aged: young people are often forced to work in slavery mode for such a shameful salary (eternal stage mode where young workers are exploited), as the dream of companies and professional freelancers is to get employees for free (but lot of times it's even not their fault, as in their turn they are persecuted by unfair taxation).

I believe it is important for all of us to save money, month after month, according to our possibilities, and to put it aside.
We never know what "tomorrow" will await us! So we must try to avoid getting caught unawares without money!

My dear friend, please, scream this loud to everyone here. Thanks!👼👼
Italy is the worst country in united Europe, especially at an economic level!👎👎
And remember that the pension you are talking about is what I also receive from the Italian government, as I am a civil invalid. And to be precise, I confirm that this amount is exactly just a paltry by € 297 / month!!
This is undoubtedly something shameful!:Banghead::Banghead:

My dear friend. Please read the previous post written by @Pousinha that he (or she) too, was born in my country and as you can see, had to move elsewhere! And this can confirm you, what it means nowadays living in Italy!!
Thank you.

Different people have different needs and the amount in which you are earning is also going to take a very big toll. I advise that you should cut your spending to the barest minimum. After you are done budgeting what you are going to spend then you should save all the money that is remaining and you should know that all the time.

Every right thinking adult that projects ahead now spends less base on the different countries economy nosediving whenever the bell rings.
But there are some risings that deserves attending to without considering the saving percentage.
MAINTENANCE is that which can come in now and you spend the current and the past months savings.
