Blackjack is a casino game played with cards, in which you play against dealer.
Objective :
In this game, the goal is to beat to dealer by getting a score closer to 21 than the dealer while not going over it. As soon as you/dealer cross 21, you/dealer will loose. If no one goes over, the closest one to 21 wins the game.
Scoring :
For Ace, it is upto each participant as to what value it hold, 1/11.
For face cards, they hold 10 points each.
For others, they are each worth their number (example : An 8 of hearts, will have a score of 8)
Deal :
In this game, the dealer deals one card face up to all the participants, including himself. After that, he deals second card face up to all the participants except this time his card will be face down.
So, all participants will have 2 cards face up and the dealer will have one card face up and one face down.
Blackjack:
Now, when the two cards are dealt, there can be a scenario wherein, a participant has a face card and an ace, for a total of 21.This is called blackjack. If the dealer doesn't have the blackjack, the participant receives 1.5 times the bet amount.
If the dealer has the blackjack but the participants don't, they loose their bet amount.
If the dealer and a participant, both have blackjack, the participant takes back his bet amount with no winnings.
Play :
Now, the participant must decide whether to 'hit' (meaning, asking for more cards in order to be closer to 21) or 'stand' (meaning, no more cards for him, the score he has currently is final for him).
If the participant, decides to 'hit', the dealer will continue to deal him cards one by one until he decides to stand (if he feels he is close enough to 21) or gets busted (score goes over 21, in which case he looses and the bet is collected by the dealer)
Dealers Play :
When all the participants have decided, the dealer must disclose that face down card. The dealer must follow certain rules now, which are, that the dealer must continue to hit if the total of his cards is 16 or less.
The dealer must stand, if the total of the cards is 17 or greater. In case of Ace, if the total counting Ace as 11 is 17 or greater the ace will be counted as 11.
If the dealer goes over 21, he is busted. All the remaining participants on the table wins by default.
