As reported by Techcrunch, the senate has summoned Jack Dorsey, The CEO of Twitter; Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook; and Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet, the holding company that owns Google to a hearing session that focuses on the Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, a piece of law that protects big tech companies from legal damages from content that users posted on their platform. This hearing is part of the government effort to further regulate these companies.

Why do these platforms find all possible means to dissociate from taking responsibility for posts on their platform but are very quick to put terms and conditions that favour them making money off people's data?

@Freshmusty. Please do heed the corrections you have been given in other threads. Make your own contributions and not pasting other people's comments.
This is serious,i noticed this some time back but I never realised the guy has continued to copy and paste intellectual property. It's realky not in order.

Now Back to the subject matter at hand, its not fair that alot of these social platform moguls have really paid a blind eye to the security concerns of individuals and forced people to agree to their Ts & Cs which makes the companies not liable for damages.ALOT of people have really had alot of mixed feelings on this subject matter at hand.

Well, I think that among these persons, Mark Zuckerberg will be the person to be affected more because there are many hate speeches and scams with the facebook platform

I am also suprise that they are still putting protection of legal damages , after they have put terms and conditions to guide their dealings before users signup , like isn't enough

As for me, I have abandoned all these social media platforms because if these privacy issues. online earning takes my time and I am happy with it

It all boils down to the fact that what is most important to them is the money to be made and not how to ensure their users' privacy is not compromised.

Yeah . This is why i pity those people that wastes time on these platforms where the platforms makes money from them and they go empty in the end .

Most people also use social media platforms to earn online through affiliate marketing and others , it's still helpful tho

Terms and condition isn't enough, heck even HYIPs have terms and condition and yet all they do is scam people. Most companies can simply lie about their Terms and conditions.

Yeah you are right there are people like that who are bent on chatting instead of finding means to earn online that's the issue there

And even when you want to help them by sharing online earning sites like BMF , they will see it as a scam and prefer catching fun on Facebook

Let them continue to catch fun ,in the end of the we will know who smiles last . There is nothing more important than having value for time spent

This is good so that it will keep them on there toe to check the kind of information or data that are collected from there users and they make a lot of money from users.

Can't agree with you more... People I don't understand why they prefer free wuen they can earn doing the same thing instead.. guess it's too complicated for them

I think this is a right step by the Senate, regulations need tightening nowadays that privacy are being intruded commonly on social media so if done right, I think it can be beneficial

Well, I think this might be a step in the right direction, I think come of these big tech companies need to be responsible for some of the contents posted, especially when it has something to do with inciting violence, hate speech, racist remarks and the likes

This is the best step people benefit from it, because some people earn money from social media, but in this matter am so surprise that some people still taking time to earn money from it.
