Quora is the best way of increasing high quality traffic and backlinks to your links. Right now, it's not even a contest. This is the only way you can easily build up a huge brand from free social traffic. Some of the top Quora users have massively increased their site's revenue using it.
But, everybody uses them wrong.

Nobody can be bothered writing quality posts. They just advertise and leave.

Here's a good answer:
If you fleshed this out, this could be a blog article. That's the kind of quality you should aim for.
I opened with a sentence that grabs the attention of people scrolling through the answers as it's one of the only ones that doesn't start with a link. I went on to provide a lot of high quality information that answers the question in detail and offers value.
Then I did something pretty interesting.
Read the bold text. I clearly cover all the different answers to questions people may have about this topic. But, it's harder to find what sites I actually recommend. Even if you do, I don't provide links.
Here comes the killer part!
In the last line I provide a link to my blog article (which can be found in my forum signature fyi).
At this point of the answer, I've earned my right to send a link. But, that link doesn't lead straight to a referral link! It goes to an article that's currently over 5000 words and provides a lot more value than the Quora answer. This gives people a reason to go and check it out. Not only that, remember how I didn't include links to URL shorteners? This means people will go to my blog to find the links instead.
