If you are an aspiring musician and want to break into the music industry, it actually isn't impossible. It can happen with the way you promote yourself and your music. This is the key to success. You can play music on the street of Los Angeles and hope that someone will walk by and hear you sing, you can also join as many open mic nights that you can find, or just be smart and start promoting online. Just keep in mind that dreaming big isn't bad, however, working hard and promoting yourself will be the best chance you have to be discovered. This won't be easy and there will be a lot of hard bumps in the road ahead of you. But, it can be done. Here are some ways you can do this to accomplish your dreams.
Create Your Marketing Plan:
Analyze: To start off with, you'll need to analyze the market and the music industry. Identify your competitors and determine what makes you different.
Define Your Audience: Figure out who your potential fans will be. That way you can characterize your targeted audience.
Establish Your Goals: Figure out your short-term and long-term goals.
Make A Marting Plan: There are several different strategies you can use. I'll tell you a few in a minute.
Budget: Figure out your budget. How much money do you have to promote your work and create your albums?
Get To Work Promoting:
Music Video: invest in a music video and portray yourself as a professional musician. But before you can do this, create your music website. Make your online portfolio. This is where you can sell your music. Share these on YouTube and a few other video sharing sites.
Share Your Music: If you share your music on digital platforms more people can listen to your music and find you at the same time.
Live Stream Music Platforms: Create an account on some live stream music platforms and start streaming your music.
Social Media: This is a great way to promote your music. Upload some music videos and share them with people in your social media groups.
Music Influencers: This will be a great way to start. Find a person who has an extreme amount of followers and asks them to collaborate with you.
Email: You can send out email newsletters to your contact list. You can build your email list by asking the audience who comes to hear you play to sign up with you so they can receive information about where you'll be playing next.
Band Merchandise: Create your own band merchandise to sell online or in stores. Get your band's name out in public so people know who you are.
Contact Music Blogger: Reach out to music bloggers and ask them if they'd like to write up a piece about your band or if you can guest post on their site.
Collaborate with Other Musicians: This is a great way to get noticed. Try and set up a special event with another group. You can even write a song together that both of your bands can play.
Make Music tutorials: This is a great way to attract people. Teach people how to play music and write some online tutorials that you can give out for free to help people out.
List Your Gigs: Use the different social media platforms to list your upcoming events and where you'll be playing.
Crowdfunding for Musicians: If you are low on cash crowdfunding is one way to get you the funds needed to produce your records or make some professional videos.
