There are many countries looking into banning cryptocurrency, and whilst others are embracing these currencies, these countries are focused on the negatives and thus are intent on banning crypto. One such country which recently joined the list is Netherlands with their economic analysis officials wanting to not only ban the mining of the currencies, and in specific bitcoin, but also holding the currency or even trading it.

I really don't think this will be finalized in favour of a ban but we would see how it goes. By the way, what could be the reasons for such a decision in the Netherlands?
From what i have seen in the news article it seems that the advice comes as a result of the potential crime and fraud that could happen with the currency. This seems to be the major driving forces.

Well , we have seen several countries banning cryptocurrency and unbanning it as well and we can only say that it is something that is quite unprofessional because the government need to consider the choice of the citizens when making such call

I agree with you. The uncertainty is very hard to deal with especially for the people in those countries, and not knowing when they should be able to sell off all their coin or continue to hodl them.

It is not bad to ban cryptocurrencies if they are not comfortable with it effect on their economy ,I urge them to do more research and investigation before concluding

Some countries tend to rely on the movements that are made by other countries, whereas other do their research in making a decision. Hopefully this will all be focused on the latter, as crypto can have some major benefits to the economy.

Yeah , it is better they study the impact and make decisions , the trend at which cryptocurrencies is helding to countries shouldn't be force because they will surely embrace it in the future.

Rather than banning Cryptocurrencies, a better option would be to discover how to nip in the bud those crimes and prosecute the criminals because most of these crimes would still remain even in the absence of cryptocurrencies.

That's the fact, every crime committed using cryptocurrencies now are not new they are also been committed with fiat currencies so curbing should be the way out not banning Crypto.

It seems fraud activities with cryptocurrency is now becoming rampant, hence the ban move by countries. There is no way a fraud activity with a crypto wallet can be traced. I can't really blame these countries.

They can be tracked Pentagon has the facilities to do that when need arises, Crypto currencies and fiat currencies are all incriminating.

There is more crime committed with US dollars than are with crypto.

Govs are afraid of decentralization and right now the crypto market is still in early stages even though BitCoin has been running for at least a decade.

That's just the fact , I think if cryptocurrencies should advance more it might weaken the US dollars which is the international trading Currency.

Well, gone are those days that you'd say you couldn't track crypto transactions, that is hardly the case anymore especially where huge funds need to be moved.

There is no statement from the Dutch government like this. What you are mentioning is an essay of an Dutch official of a sub ministry department. A similar call has been rejected by the finance minister in 2018. Just because someone without authority calls for ban, there is no move or action by the government. Please do a fact check before posting false or misleading "news"

With blockchain analytics crypto transactions can be easily tracked, and by design the blockchain distributed ledger keeps a public record of everything forever... that being said privacy coins like XMR still allow transfer of value that can not be tracked or traced.

Crime and fraud happens not just when you deal with cryptocurrencies. It happens with other assets as well like gold, etc.

This is just an excuse. The motive is something else.... The officials fear fiat currencies would lose it's importance and everything in between will all be exposed.

Once the banking and financial sector use the Blockchain Technology, everything is public.

As far as I can understand, the developed countries are more likely to ban Bitcoin. Actually the currency of such country is already at a very high rate compared to middle and lower countries. Using Bitcoin will only hurt thier own currency.

I don't think that should be there reason of banning crypto currency. Before the existence of crypto currency, there has been frauds and they have been using flait currencies and they still use it till date.
But then also, we have to accept that a scammer can harvest his fraud money in crypto very easily. Now a days, wallets like skrill and neteller have become very much secure, thus crypto has become scammers main trading hub.
