As reported by BBC, Ireland's Data Protection Commissioner, also known as DPC, is currently investigating whether the popular image sharing platform, Instagram is able to properly protect sensitive data like email addresses and phone numbers for accounts owned by underage children. DPC is the leading regulatory body in the European region, and since a number of tech giants have headquarters in Ireland, they must be ready to receive heavy fines should the failed to protect their users' private data or to illicitly sell them to third party.

Its a welcomed development that DPC is working hard to regulate the and protect the under aged users of instagram and other known social media sites. To make sure those datas are not leaked to third parties for doing malicious things.

Its their job to do so , i want the users to form a strong coalition against the use of private data then you will see them start taking action

Lol, their is nothing you won't see on earth. That's an avenue to make money by commanding the social media sites to adhere to protecting the datas of underaged. Do they know who is using it and the ones not using social medias? This days under age hide their identity to act like an adult and do anonymous things.

And besides its like there is a minimum age you need to reach to signup on Facebook , i don't know if its true or you can signup at any age , because underage kids should be cautioned because ofthe bad influence on Facebook
