Since Tinypic is closed and it was one of the most popular image hosting sites I think such sites can't be profitable any more if you don't have to many ads. Also, many ads will drive away users so again it is not profitable. I think apps like Instagram and Snapchat caused this situation.

What do you think?

This is the problem that a lot of sites faced which makes them shut down. Without a reasonable amount to a site, it becomes very difficult to run it and before you know it,the site is off

If those ads are been placed well dosent mean it will drive too much visitors and they will earn less , there could be just three high paying ads than 20 low paying ads

some people will just start a business without keeping money to manage the business,some site that is been shutdown is as a result of poor management,thou there are still some site that care for their wellbain they maintain their site and never shutdown even when their hosting expired they renew it on time

Some site shut down not because of only keeping money to managing the business but because they fail to achieve their desired goals

I want to agree with you, by the way pictures with instagram I don't think there is a picture that no one can download or save from there.

I agree with it but nobody don't visit sites with images when they are already on Instagram and other social media. You can download it and post or post original but rare people watch it.

I never know more about image business if it profitable or not, but there is no business that is not profitable, depends on your plan towards the business, I think hosting image is a profitable.

I don't really understand how Instagram and Snapchat cause it, you should have state how they cause it rather than speculating. Try and fine out why Tinypic close.

Perhaps because of the growing popularity of social media who can do what they do... Makes people forgot they exist which results in them closing.. i guess they need to level up too

Image hosting used to be popular if you wanted to upload an image online with a link you can use to share the image to your followers. This was before social media became popular, so I believe instagram, Facebook and all other social media sites contributed greatly to image hosting no longer being profitable.
