I don't want to break AdSense policies but I've seen sites with more than 3 ads units per page.

How many AdSense ads per page is allowed these days? Thank you for answer my question!

Personally,I don't like sides with too much ads when it not a PTC site.I assume that having 2 ads per page is ideal. At least one at the header another at the Footer. If the ads are targeted then visitors will still click on it.

There was 3 ads per page limit. but it seems like that limit does not apply anymore. and the ads on the page can exceed. that's something I have noticed. some of the sites like witty feed etc are going to make you feel about it. and another even harder to understand thing is that ads per page are going to be different in that case. so we just have to work around that as well. that's something we have to comply with their set of the ad policies.

Personally, I don't like websites that have more than 4 adverts on a page. It makes the site look messy and unorganised. I'm not sure if there is a policy saying how many advertisements you are allowed to display but I would read over the adsense policies before you put lots of ads on your website, just to be on the safe side!

If you want Google AdSense to take care of your ads optimization, you can put a code on your site and they will display ads as per their wish. In terms of how many? I've seen sites with 5 ads per single page... my question is?
How is their RPM? Guess pretty low!

RPM is Revenue Per-thousand Impressions; it only calculates the approximate value of ad impressions by dividing estimated earnings by the number of page impressions, then multiplying it by 1000.
For Examples -
1) A website/blog earns an estimated $100 from 20,000 ad impressions, then the RPM would be :- (100 / 20000) x 1000 = $5
2) A website/blog earns an estimated $150 from 25,000 ad impressions, then the RPM would be :- (150 / 25000) x 1000 = $6

RPM cannot show actual earnings or fixed earnings.

According to Google's AdSense program policies, you're allowed to have up to three AdSense ad units per page on your website. In addition, you can have up to two link units and two search boxes. It's important to note that you shouldn't place ads too close to other clickable elements on your page, such as buttons or links.
