I'm looking for ways to make money from Twitter. I have an account with +20k followers.

If you sell things on etsy, ebay, amazon, or fiverr I would recommend that you put the stuff you sell as links on each one under the profile section, and use twitter as your main hub for it. Prepare some interesting or useful tweets, and maybe a few light humor ones between your business posts to keep people wanting to see them and subscribing to or following you on twitter. People are ok with being advertised to a little here and there while seeing other things that they like, and from all the people online with twitter you will get more exposure and people sharing your tweets when you give them stuff they enjoy.

I found with affiliates/Amazon people just kind of scroll by a product and never really view it. I tried it for a month straight with 50k followers across a few handles and nothing.

And the Fiverr thing to "promote" other people is very saturated. People are offering the same thing and they have at least 100k followers, so your 20k account would probably be overlooked.

I think it is better to use twitter (or any platform you have very little direct control over) as a source of traffic. But the monetize portion of the plan should be your own domain ad website. That way you are never dependent on a site that can, at ay moment change ownership or rules. And you can also spread your bets by channeling traffic from a number of different social networks rather than depending primarily on a single one.

That is already a very big number of followers, 20+. This means you are now popular among the Twitter users. Your integrity is already established. There are possible ways you could find in the Internet to monetize your Twitter account. One of the fastest ways to get a lot of followers is to join a reddit train, or another online group that has people follow one another. There may be active and inactive users who follow you, but just having large numbers helps a lot for the legitimate people whom you want to follow you to click the button to do that. When they see that you have a lot of followers, the first thing they think is "I want to follow this user because they have a lot of popularity, and must be sharing things that are important or well-liked, and that means I could benefit from that". Just like selling itself, there is a psychological aspect to it.

Another fast (but temporary) way to get a lot of followers is to hold a raffle of some kind, to where only the people who follow you are eligible to win. By having them follow you, they will stick around to see if they're a winner. Since entry is free, all they have to do is follow (and people love free stuff, so they will follow you). Alas, once the raffle is over and the winner is announced, there will be a large percentage of unfollowers. You'll still have a lot of people who will stay, either because they like your tweets, or because they hadn't seen that the raffle was over.

These are just a few methods, but they work.

Try sponsored tweets dot com if they accept you in their program and have sponsored tweets.
My best idea is check engagements by tweeting from your profile as how many people are visiting site through the twitter. We can't make money even though we had 50k followers because they should be active.

I agree with this post. We have to keep people interested and making sure not to bombard them with things we are trying to sell is very important. Almost like having well rounded posts...always keeping the momentum going and keep them coming back. Get those re tweets going by posting likable tweets and throw some advertisements in less frequently is what works for me.

Using your exposure to link to other people's profiles/pages and having them pay you for that seems reasonable. Twitter is shared media super quickly, and I've found that advertising products and stuff on accounts with good amounts of followers still shows little to no conversion from affiliates and such.

I use twitter as a sharing site and get good results. I have never used it as money earning site. For me it returns good results for bringing lots of visitors to articles and that's what I use Twitter for. I hope I will get many good suggestion here.

Me too...I am waiting to see how effective Twitter is to earn money. I am watching this post like a hawk. A really good tactic though is to start following and re-tweeting those companies/people that are in your niche. This gets more followers sent your way and the main companies may start to follow you. This is what we want.

I have nearly 5k followers but I do not add every XYZ that follows me so I can see them unfollowing me at "whounfollowedyou' but most of them are people with ideas to sell you something or the other. I add only the ones in writing business so my every tweeet brings close to 50-60 views. I tweet 3-4 times a day so that solves my purpose of bringing views to my work.

It looks like your followers are not interested in following to you and they may followed because of exchange. I suggest to you from here onwards follow manually by searching related followers.
My follower rate was good on three profiles, only 1 to 3 percent will unfollow for some reasons or inactivity of mine.
Just discover more, why they are unfollowing, check their accounts folllowers, tweets to find more information what they are interested in you for following back.

@suresh I suggest you to read my post once again if you please. I said I do not add everyone without knowing them properly. All my followers are hand picked ant trusted ones whom I added based on their qualification. My every tweet brings me a good number instantly and then keep bringing more when they are online. My unfollowers are ones whom I neglect as I am not interested in their profile.

Twitter's best use is to redirect traffic, so you should make the most out of it. The most obvious way is to get payed for promoting someone's website, SponsoredTweets and Fiverr are both great places to find some work there; you could also create your own website, put ads on it and promote it with your account.
The second way involves selling products, and it works best with stuff you produce yourself: Etsy, Redbubble and other t-shirt producers (Teespring, Yeetee, etc.) are all good possibilites. You can also promote products on someone else's behalf with affiliate marketing and earn part of the profits with it.
