The strike is legally allowed in some countries and serves as a legal means of fighting for better workers' rights: better wages and working conditions, paid overtime hours. The strikes were frequent in history and sometimes successful, while sometimes the bosses simply ignored the workers. The strike is most successful if all workers participate in it.

Have you ever gone on strike at work and what rights did you claim?

Going on strike is a means of demanding your want from the federal government. I believe this can only be done in public sectors. Its very rare to hear private sectors workers going on strike. I worked in a private sector so I haven't participate in any form of strike before.

Yes if you have gone for strike and you return you would have seen another person in your position. That is why I don't advise people to strike.
That is not true any organization that want to go on strike must be with line in accordance to the organization agreement, and when embarking on strike there is always a specific period which the strike is going to be active after that period everyone return to work the only thing I have to say is that if you stay more than you suppose to then you may be likely received a resignation letter and that is your personal issue.

Strike can never happen without the knowledge of the workers, some firm will embark on strike when they are not well paid, all workers need to be notify its not only one person that will just wake up and go on strike if that is done then expect someone on your seat when you are back

That's true. Some organizations even go as far as I making it clear in their rules that whenever any union under them want to embark on strike, they should first of all lay an official complaint through their leaders. These complaint are forwarded to the welfare unit. It's when their request is not granted that they may embark on the strike. So all in all, I depends on the organization's rules and regulations.

There is no way you can go on strike in your working place without leting your boss know what you want to do and its not possible for one person to go on strike, strike is something that needed team work after concraye agreement due to lack of care and proper treat to workers wellfare.

Yeah. Like I stated, there is supposed to be a prior notice to the management telling them about what they need to do. It's when they fail to meet up that strike now comes in. In Nigeria, the University Lecturers have been at loggerhead with the government for years now and the government isn't meeting their needs. They are currently on strike now, it's been 6 months and they have not still settled with the government.

Well, l am still a student and I have never gone for strike. But in my country, strike is a very effective tool workers or labour unions uses to fight for better work conditions and suitable working environment. It should also be noticed that strike activities should be carried out with tangible reasons.

I am very fortunate to be employed by a stable and fair company. In my 30 years of working there never was an instance of a labor problem. The labor union is not aggressive as to harass the management. It is a disaster when the workers go on strike.

Not me but my brother in law they haven't got paid for the last 2 months and he encouraged his co workers to not go to work with jim and they sent a letter to the management.. they got paid the next day

That is really the basic truth that is some of the factor that makes people go on strike when you are not paid, you will fine it very difficult to continue your work so for this aspect strike need to be called upon,I have gone on strike back then when they refuse to pay me about four months salary

This is surprising because most time action is really needed for people to respect your decision , I think they really made the move and glad it turned out successful for them

During my school days, we never went on a strike. But some others had gone which made my school one of the best in the country. As for work, I work as a freelancer unless I decide to take some days off. Strike is really a bad thing.

That's good and is every workers dream to be employed in a good company. Workers only strike to press home their needs especially if the company doesn't want to come to terms with them.

Yeah how can they even expect their employees to go to work when they don't even have enough money left to eat since they're not paying them

Yeah, I have on many occasions went on strike. But mine is a bit different because am not an employee but a student.
We do normally go on strike when the government bluntly refuses to pay our teachers and administrators their salary...

It's a good gesture to show that you are not happy with the services or conditions that your employers are offering. But sadly in the classification of what am skilled for you rarely get that luxury to express yourself by striking. Essential or front line workers are not supposed to strike.

I see it as wickedness for an employer to expect his employees to come to work without paying them. I've seen and heard of people not paid for 6 months. How do they cope?

Probably by borrowing money from other people or relatives perhaps. Employers who do these kind of thing should be taken to court seriously.

Yes for countries where rules and orders are adhered to. Countries like mine is where anything goes and people live above the law once they're wealthy and connected.
