Guys this blows the INTERNET, Sanmay Ved, a student from Babson University bought Google.com for $12 via Google Domains and was the owner of the actual domain for one minute or so according to his Linkedin description.

It seems Ved was playing with Google Domains and he typed in the search domain bar google.com which showed is available for purchase. Very strange right?! And he went to checkout, his card was charged and after couple minutes or even less he received a cancelation email notice. Pretty much this happened. :D

Do you think Google forgot to renew his own domain or some bugs in the Google Domains service?

He should have forwarded it to www.yahoo.com while he had the chance to! Haha

That, or worse...send it to BING! That would have been a great April fools joke to play on them lol

I wonder if it was a glitch, or if they accidentally let him own it briefly without changing the DNS and realized what they had just done? I saw that they offered him $6,000 and then agreed to pay a little over $12,000 to him. The story is odd, but I'm not sure what the terms were for them paying him that. Do you know by chance?

It's a fake news, a day without Google will be a news everywhere. There is no news at all and how possible to say that he owns domain for a few minutes.
They never forget to renew domain or do they don't have sufficient funds to renew it?
Their revenue is billions per day, then how much would they lose for a minute.

It must of been a glitch, I doubt that anyone could even come close to that domain. They own there own servers and I'm sure they host their own DNS and don't push it off to a third party server.

Sadly, I did not know about this until now. Perhaps, this might be fake news, because I did not see it in mainstream media. If it ever happened, Google might have settled privately. I also assume that this was a glitch. Because sometimes, when we are looking for domain names, one moment it says available and another moment, it says not available.
