Benefits -Cost = Net Benefits

You can try assigning points to each items and calculate approximate value for each type of earning activities (There are many ways of online earning )

If cost outweigh the benefits for that category , you should not continue or think ways to improve the situation . Otherwise, you can continue your online business earning in that category.

From my experience having been earning online, I would say that it is an absolute gain for me as the only exclusive cost I have had to bear is the cost of data subscription. I was able to find a very cheap source of data subscription for my online work.

Data subscription is getting cheaper by the day. I don't know which region of the world you live in. I use $1 worth of data subscription monthly and I make more than $20 from it. Still an absolute gain from my own side.
