I am not surprised with this . China has the highest miners and hash power , so it is a good move by them .
However China in most cases doesn't offer a service without an interior motive .

Very true and even when they succeed most people will not want to do anything with their blockchain .
They are trying to control all aspect of life when in comes online activities .

They might be building it specifically for their own uses since they love having their own version of things in the internet so they careless about outsiders tapping into it

Well am not surprise this is coming from China , well I also hope they increase the security system to prevent any form of hackers or even scammers

They may use this tech to facilitate their state-owned hackers to do damage to other countries, Heard a rumor about how the government of China hire hackers to attack other countries.

I learnt that their initial blockchain project was hacked and crashed so very likely they will prepare heavily for this one to avoid it been hacked again.

Doubt China can be a major "global" hub for crypto since they have many restrictions in place and more likely they make this tech for their own use.

If they succeed in building their blockchain and they lift all forms if restrictions which I hope they will do , they could be global hub soon.

China want to explore most opportunities available in blockchain to build their own version of bitcoin to be much more efficient and advanced. They love independence.
