I am using presently Prestashop script, but it is not user friendly as their url structure is bad. I see most useful plugins need to buy.
Is their any free E commerce script that is excellent for small shopping carts. I have only 50 to 500 products and that is enough in lie for me.

I second wordpress and woocommerce option. That seems to be working good for many of my clients too. I think apart from that magento is also one good option. It can easily set things up for payment and processing orders. And if you don't want to work too hard on technical side, just go ahead with shopify, it is done for you system. And it can easily take care of all the coding issues for you. You just have to choose theme add products and then start selling.

They have 100+ payment gateways, sure must be something suitable for India.

I'd recommend sticking with WordPress and Woocommerce stack. The reason being this stack is very useful in terms of tweaking. And also it has some really good options for the themes, plugins and also optimization on the website side. It's lot better in terms of the scaling and it's worth using for on low budget.
