Just recently, the government of Australia has released a draft for a new bill that aims to further protect the privacy of its citizens. Called online privacy bill, the new law, if passed, will make it mandatory for social media like Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit to verify users' age before allowing them to collect their data.

At least, it will finally stop abusive and unlawful socials joining. It's a true shame when children and teenagers join a social out of parental monitoring. To not talk about children claiming age above 20 or 30.

I like it because it is for the main interest of protecting the citizen of Australia, this is what our government should also do and should be looking for an opportunity to help people in this way.

That is a good law that protects user's privacy online. Australia is doing such a great job with this. I hope more countries will follow suit and protect their citizens this way.

It's this not a communist system, this will bring a lot of limitation to many online opportunities and a country like Australia should know better that investors hate limitation in other for them to maximize the best.

Facebook is already crossed the lines of 'communist system' when they enforced the 'real name' policy that forces users to use and reveal their real name on the platform.

Well, let's see how this unfolds, sometimes decision taken can not be easily revolt, personally I supported Facebook on that decision and I see it more like a regulation.

Many countries are seeing social media as a challenge and it's true in a way. However regulating it would make the citizens loose confidence in the government to respect their rights.

This is one of the few countries that I have seen that they have been intentional about protecting people who are using the internet. I also saw one bill that mandated models to indicate clearly if photos they post on social media have been manipulated or retouched. I will love to see how they handle the incidence of fake news.

This is actually a very good move by the Australian government. there are a lot of underaged people accessing the internet. this law will definitely protect underaged people from accessing inappropriate content on the internet.

This is indeed a very good step taken by the government of Australia on behalf of Australian citizens. When it comes to social media, many countries see it as a threat as many inappropriate posts are been made every second which is sometimes become hard to monitor or take control of. Hope this step will motivate other countries as well to take some strict steps while dealing with social media.
