Follow Along My Crypto Follies - From $800 to the Moon!

So my journey into crypto started with a co-worker talking about Ripple. It was December 12th, 2017 and Ripple was all the rage. It was in the main stream media, it was on the radio, it seemed like it was everywhere.

Now of course I had heard of crypto currency, but mostly Bitcoin. As an internet marketer, I had seen numerous posts from other marketers about it, but at the time I stayed away as I needed to focus on what I was doing and not follow the sheep into the latest and greatest craze.

So this co worker got me thinking and I got to researching. Ripple sure looked good, much of the hype was touting it as the next Bitcoin and at less than fifty cents a coin it seemed like easy money. So I decided to jump in.

Researching where to buy it on Ripple's website, I created an account at Bitstamp. I entered all my info and then their system said they were backlogged and it'd be a few days. In the meantime I watched Ripple's price climb daily. About a week later Ripple topped $1 and I was still waiting for Bitstamp to approve my account. Another week went by and you guessed it, still waiting, all the while Ripple was still climbing. Finally I jumped on Facebook to find some other means of buying Ripple. Found a guy in a Facebook group that was willing to help me and finally on December 29 I bought $100 worth of Ripple at a whopping $2.23 a coin. But hey, if this thing was gonna be $1000 a coin than still a good buy in my book!

On a side not...I'm still waiting on Bitstamp to approve my account!

And so my journey begins...

I'm still waiting on Bitstamp to approve my account!
Lots of bad reviews for this company, I suggest look for alternatives to put your hands on :XRP: if that's you lloking for. I personally don't like the RIPPLE coin since it's not decentralized and main use for it is helping banks and governments move money.

Keep us updated.

@Mr. B , yeah I've given up on Bitstamp. Ultimately the person I found to help me walked me through opening an account with Coinbase then Binance, so I'm good now.

Continuing my journey, I noted quite a few other coins on Binance that interested me. Doing some quick research I found a lot of discussion about TRX (Tron) and being a new coin on the market it had already climbed to $.10. So on January 3rd I put another $100 into Binance and purchased $100 worth, bringing my total holdings at the time to around $235 as Ripple had seen some market increase.

The excitement built as I continued to watch the market, and I decided to add another $200 to my portfolio. Thinking I needed to diversify, I put $100 into TRX (Tron) and $50 each into FUN (Fun Fair) and TNB (Time New Bank), bringing my total with current gains to nearly $470.

Then something amazing happened...the market took off! TRX skyrocketed to $.30, XRP moved over $3 and FUN shot up as well. I decided to dump TNB and roll it into TRX as it was climbing, which at the time was a smart move. My measly $400 climbed to over $1200 and I couldn't be more excited! Looks like I was on my way to being a crypto millionaire in no time at all!

That's awesome. You know these coins can also lose value, what plan do you have?
You hold it until 5x? Or more or looking into new markets? Since new coins rising every day.
Thanks for sharing your experience, it helps a lot of members.

@Mr. B , yes they can lose value, and that's exactly what happened!

The profit I gained when TRX took off dropped down as it corrected slightly from it's high, going from $.30 to $.20. XRP did a similar but smaller turn. Then it something even worse happened...the entire market took a downturn. For whatever the reason, BTC plummeted and being that the value of these coins is based on the value of BTC, so did they. This massive drop caused widespread panic, and for new investors like myself who had never experienced anything like it, sold their coins in an effort to not "lose it all", even in light of other, more experienced traders telling me to hold position.

I forgot to add too that I had put in an additional $400 on another market, Kucoin, which I invested in two different $.02 coins. These of course dropped in their value when the rest of the market dropped, so I'm sitting around $160 with these at the moment.

I know, stupid move on my part, but to me I'm taking it as a huge lesson learned.

And now starts my slow climb to recovery, with my total balance sitting around $260, and that is what the rest of the updates in this thread will entail.

Update on my follies!

Current holdings on the markets are:

TRX 3,975 coins
POE 1,017 coins
OCN 578 coins
TEL 33376 coins

Total initial investment: $1000
Total portfolio value at current prices: $360.28
Currently at a loss of $639.72

Heard some good news on TRX and OCN, so hoping this helps things recover with those two. As for POE, I was day trading with that one and missed a stop loss and got rekt, so now I'm hodling it. TEL is a long term hodl at the moment and currently priced under a penny.

Hold tight, institutional money is coming and prices will be going up. My money is still going in with full confidence.

How much you invested into crypto so far?
I've invested about $500 so far, most of it this year. I've got a total 3.5 to 4k now. It was nice when faucets were paying 2500 Satoshi per play. But I've now got cloud mines for life.
