Do you guys have any ideas or marketing strategies for small business at little or no cost? Let's hear them!

The easiest way to start a small business is to target group of people or in a small community and also make very small budget to avoid excess spendings and also do not stay in environments where competition is high

This is fact. After that, perhaps you need to do more advertising and promotion to attract more market to your business. What is essential is growth by making your business more broad than it already is.

Actually friends can easily help to spread the products and services simply by themselves trying to patronize the product or service and also recommend it their friends, well wishers and families, it sometimes more effective than social media platforms

I guess word of mouth is not that bad, specially if it's a small local business. But for that specific case, i'd TRY out facebook ads. It's the kind of marketing strategy that would be very targeted for small local businesses. You can have ads to promote a free "insert something here" for the first customers, collect emails etc etc. Should be pretty inexepensive too.

Sometime if the business is a small mouth advertisement and quality goods and service delivery can easily sell you out without much stress of buying facebook ads space which may take longer time to yield results

Strategies depend on the type of your business. What exactly happening around here is, people say to the public only the facts but not their strategy, indeed they name those facts as a strategy. In my opinion, the strategy is something formed on our own and should not be disclosed to anyone. Use the facts to motivate yourself and try out your best strategies.

i think in this era , for marketing is not as hard as 5 years before, today we got things like facebook, instagram, twitter and any other social media that can we use for applied our strategies

You might be right about it,nowadays mostly social media accounts are used to drive traffic to your sites,to promote your business there...as I have read from statistics social media networks are making huge profit from promoting businesses there....

That is true, even the offline marketers or marketing companies now adopts online marketing tactics to boost their sales, There are lots of small businesses today that don't have stores offline they focus online marketing and delivery services alone which earn them good money.

I experienced opposite from your opinion. Rather than being helped, friends always asked for free and discounts.. What may actually happen in my views is they would actually share your business if you give a favor and greater servixe to them than others.

But not all i think.

I have never tried to sell products to friends.Though,I think if you are selling some products to your friends, with some type of discount, this will benefit your business.Your friends can recommend your products to other clients as well.

It is not ideal to even sell your products or services to your friends the normal prices you sell to others even if your are not promoting your business. There are friends that are good marketer sometimes they may just take a sample for marketing and return it without using it.

You might be right about it.I like giving things, products as gift to my friends, and not selling them. After all, they are my friends.:Smile:I was just talking from business point of view of some internet marketeers, who want to make a great deal online.

Hmm... It was not lucky for me maybe to have that kind of friend. But anyway they can really help. It depends to them, it depends to you how you handle them as client and as friend. But as so far. In my very opinion, its better to be friends to clients than friends to be clients.

Its okay for me to give discounts or freebies as much as posible. They are friends. But ofcourse not all the times. Think first your business than your friends.. Your business is your source of income.

What kind of small business do you have? It depends to what type of business.

A good business location is a market itself, future clients will visit you. Because your accesible and more convenient.

Rather than your product, you also have a good customer service.

Facebook, instagram, twitter are good start to market.

Quality post to consider.

Im still learning too. Hope to read all your suggestions too

I am of the same opinion.Giving gift products to your friends it is a nice gesture.Sometimes it is not good to mix the friends relationships with your business. It is good sometimes to focus on your business and try to get other clients to it.

Use social media. Do some gimmicks like games, discounts etc... Have attractive posters, tarpaulin and the like, anything that will promote your business and make it known to people.

I am not sure what kind of business you own and who are your target customers?? Depending on that you can design your marketing strategy to suit the business. Social media is a free way to promote your business and it reaches to a large number of people.

There are paid and non paid promotion methods. If you are managing to hire a good firm, which can make you a good webpage for your business, using good SEO,you will get your webpage in the first page of search engines.

If you have online presence where you sell the products. You can definitely consider the promotion through forums, social media and blogs. Do note that online presence requires more efforts than offline word of mouth recommendation. And often online sales take longer time for the sales to start. If I were to own small business I'd start offline if possible.
