Referees are very important people who it comes to football.
Honestly without the referee I dont think the football game will be so entertaining like what we have.
The referees under go series of training both physically and mentally, they endure full 90minutes or more without rest and they make sure they are not partial in their judgement.

At the end their pay off per each match is not encouraging.

According to goal.com
This is how each country pays per match

Country. Per match
England. £1,150
Spain. £5,200
Germany. £3,150
Italy. £3,000
France. £2,400
Portugal. £1,000

Well that is what these referees have been receiving

One reason may be that football referees are not professional players or coaches who can generate large incomes for clubs and leagues. As a rule, football referees only work a few hours a week on the pitch, while players and coaches work much more, their success on the pitch directly affects the results of clubs and leagues, and they can receive large salaries.

The referee are being paid by FA or league management. So, it's understandable that they are not paid much money. They are usually being per match, and they don't work all the time. Except they go for training, they only work once or twice in a week.

Referee are seeing as a part time worker and not a regular worker. A referee can go a season without officiating more than 5 matches. We cannot actually compare that with players that don't have any rest at all for a season. May be that's why they are paid lesser.

The salary of a referee may vary depending on the level of the game, the country where the match takes place, and the experience of the referee. In some cases, they may be paid additional payments for additional duties such as match preparation or training. However, in general, judges' salaries are not high and they usually do not work full-time as they are busy with other professional duties.

This debate has been ongoing for quite a long time, when the referees argued that they are professionals in the field and most of them are professors in psychology and are receiving lesser amounts to the footballers who are typically not educated in football.

Yes that is the point these referees are professionals they are not just picked but the undergo series of training.
The receive all manners of insult from players the manage the game till full 90 minutes without much errors.
They are very important when it comes to football because if their officiating is bad the game will not be entertaining and the competition will not be entertaining the way it should be.
I believe they deserve better salary than that

In addition, referees' salaries may not be commensurate with their importance to football competitions. They should receive decent pay for their work and level of training. After all, fair and professional refereeing is essential to keep football alive and its status as one of the most popular sports in the world.

Instead of being considered a full-time vocation, football refereeing is sometimes seen as a side or part-time employment. In order to augment their income or follow their enthusiasm for the sport, several referees who accept lower remuneration for officiating have other occupations or sources of money.

Indeed, refereeing in football is not always the main activity for referees. Many of them work part-time or have other sources of income to supplement their income. In addition, referees can use refereeing as a side activity to get involved in the sport and enjoy the games. However, whether refereeing is considered a primary activity or a side job, all referees must maintain high standards of professional ethics and work for the benefit of the game and all its participants.

I think Refereeing is taken as a vocational and part time work and not full time. However I still think they're underpaid. Football is a money venture so I think they should benefit too same with coaches. It's like only footballers benefit most.

In general, wages in football are determined by market factors such as supply and demand and may vary depending on the role of the participant in the game. However, this does not mean that judges should not receive decent pay for their work. It is important to ensure equal and fair remuneration for all participants in the game, including referees.

I wouldn't agree that football referees are under paid giving that the figures mentioned in this post are for each match they officiate. Remember they have lots of matches to preside over and giving the strength of the currency, their take home pay is enough to allow them live considerably comfortable.

Yes you are right footballers receive most . There is money in football and the referees are the once that will make critical decision and their decision can help or destroy the game.

That is why the players can insult the referees because they believe that they are richer than them.
