❕NEWS Tax Reduction for Online Shoppers in Dubai

Dubai Customs has announced a change to the duty residents must pay on goods purchased internationally, which means residents will pay less for their purchases. Dubai Customs reversed its previous decision about the duty threshold, so any goods imported with a value of less than AED1,000 are now exempt from the fee. The previous threshold for exemption of parcels/shipments was AED300, making products bought for between AED300 and AED1,000 cheaper. This decision came into effect on March 1, 2023, until further notice. However, from January 1, 2023, tobacco, tobacco products, e-cigarettes, and nicotine liquids of any value are subject to 200% customs and excise tax.

I just love Dubai and the uae in general. They're bringing policies that'll attract people to their country and it's really working. It's now one of the most favorite destination in the world with people relocating there.

This is good and healthy thing because it will make sure that people who buy bad things have to pay for it more and those who need necessities are helped this way by the authorities excellent approach indeed by them to save their people .

Tax reduction on online shopping is a good development as it'll encourage more shopping. This will increase the profit of sellers, reduce the buying cost incurred by buyers as well as increase revenue on spending tax. It's a win win decision.

Definitely they are an rich country and they can easily afford to do things like such which makes such that each of the business owners more profitable in the long term it makes them successful and they can invest in the growth of the country as well indeed .

I don't really see this as a nice gesture. Rather than promoting locally made products, this action will let people focus more on buying international products. Countries should focus more on how to promote their locally made products.

You are right they should allow taxes on foreign products and give tax relief on local products this will ensure more money remains in the country and local people get to earn money than the already rich people indeed .

I believe instead of the government to be subsidizing the online shopping payment, they can be diverting the money to something else. Online shopping may as well lead to fraud as some people may be given products different from they ordered.
