New rules for the federal tax credit for electric vehicles (EVs) have been released by the US Treasury Department. According to the rules, as of January 1, 2024, EVs with batteries that contain minerals and materials from China, will not be eligible for the credit. This rule is to keep away US EV market from China, it will however affects some Tesla Models, Nissan Leaf, Volkswagen ID.4, and Ford Mustang Mach-E.
