Most would say they depend on foods to their nutrients. No doubt about that but different foods have different nutrients but it is not always that we get to eat foods of our choice, on a daily basis. There is also the issue of getting bored with eating the same food every single day.

It is not always that our stomach works in tandem with our tongue as we do get tempted to satisfy our tongue more than eat what is good for us.

With this scenario one can go for supplements. Different supplements promise different nutrients and just swallowing a capsule or pill every day is manageable and there is no question of getting bored.

I take a multi vitamin, cod liver oil pearls, an antioxidant and something for my eyes.

What is your intake?
 
I have few supplements prescribed by my doctor to help me maintain my nerve health and making them strong. I have autoimmune disorder and that causes type 1.5 diabetes for me. That supplement is needed for me. I get blood work done regularly. If my Vitamin D is low, I go for the supplements suggested by doctor. I try to meet my nutrient requirements through food..I only take supplements suggested by doctor.
 
Yes, many people depend on both food and supplements to make sure they get all the nutrients they need. Eating a balanced diet of healthy foods is the best way to ensure you are getting enough vitamins and minerals, but some people may also need to take additional supplements to meet their nutritional needs.
 
Many a times the nutritional requirements are not met despite taking a healthy balanced diet. This can be due to some health issues or genetic factors. Like some people have poor absorption of iron from the food and they are prone to anemia despite a diet rich in iron. Iron supplements become a necessity for them.
But some people go overboard with nutrients supplements. They overdose themselves with these supplements available over the counter. That comes with its own set of health problems in long run. People need to be careful with that.
 
I don't like taking supplements, so I get all of my essential nutrients from the food I take in. That is why I make sure that I eat foods that are rich in all the required nutrients, so that I don't lack it in my system.

What is your intake?
According to my own knowledge of what food supplements are. They're additives that are just like an attachment to the main food we ingest. Though people mix it up and call food supplements drugs, I don't think they are drugs but they act like one. For you to get a supplement to work for you, youist always try to use them with food
