There is much talk about how cryptocurrency is not traceable and it allows you to remain anonymous and this is all well and good. In fact this is reason that many people got into it, because they can use the currency without having to put any of their personal information at risk. However is this truly the case when it comes to the use of crypto? Do you think that it is possible for crypto to be traced using the ip address that is accessing the wallets and the exchanges as well?

while cryptocurrency provides a degree of privacy and can be used without revealing personal information, it is not entirely untraceable. The level of traceability depends on various factors, including the cryptocurrency used, the precautions taken by users, and the information voluntarily shared when interacting with cryptocurrency services. Users should be aware that complete anonymity is challenging to achieve in the cryptocurrency space, and regulatory compliance and law enforcement capabilities continue to evolve in this area.

I think the major issue behind governments foot dragging on cryptocurrency adoption has to do more with it's anonymity. And as adoption of it keeps evolving, there would be a greater moving away from absolute anonymity to something more encompassing for the governments.

There are numerous ways the government can crack down on the anonymity of cryptocurrency transactions and engage actively in them. Only a few coins out there are even anonymous in their transactions, most are open source

It still boils down to partnering with crypto exchanges. If you transfer cryptocurrency from a custodial wallet to another custodial wallet, there is no way any government agency can trace that on the Blockchain because all they would see would be wallet addresses. That's still a limitation for governments.
