YouTube Partner Program overview
As of April 6, 2017, channels that have fewer than 10,000 views cannot run ads on their videos. Learn more about recent changes to the YouTube Partner Program on the YouTube Creator Blog.

What do you think about this?

I have never really understood how the whole hosting Youtube videos thing works, even though I know that it is pretty lucrative if you are good. Something tells me that is rare though.

I wonder how the new channels could earn in monetization when there are no ads? Does that mean the new channels will have to strive until they earn 10k views in order to be qualified for monetization? I'm sure glad that my channel have exceeded that number (one video of mine has 200k views) but I still don't get the drift why the minimum number of views required for the ads. Oh well, it's just like a probationary period for newcomers but I'm sure it's quite discouraging.

I guess I can say I am lucky then... My old gaming account has over 10,000 and my work at home channel has 18,000 and something odd views. I guess that isn't bad but my videos are boring and to the point. And I just use it as a way to get traffic to my blog mostly but the odd penny from Adsense is always nice. I don't post regularly either though and I am not sure if that would make a huge change for me. But the people who do great with it, that is awesome.

I am a old channel in YouTube . And I don't have 10000 views until now.
Will I be kicked out of the monetization program ?
And does I need to apply the monetization program again if I finally reach 10000 views there?

thx for any advice

I believe the rule was enforced for new members, if you can still see monetization on, means you doing great.

in fact, I only have 37 views for my 4 videos, very poor results.
But I have not break their rules and no warning only.
But do you have the monetization on? Have you signed up for Adsense?

yes, I have Adsense hosting account on YouTube and Hubpages.

And I just finished 10 posts on gigarocket, and submit the free hosting plan registration but after click submit button, nothing happened then and there is no record of my submission. Don't know what will happen then? And for the purpose of the site, I just mentioned to be used for my Amazon affiliate program and affiliate programs. Don't know what will happen anyway .
If they accept me, don't know if I can place my a-ads to monetize it?

thx

I'm getting closer to enable ads on BMF Youtube channel ;)
Maybe by the end of this month will reach 10k views. Will update you! :D

This seems to be the case in US based accounts I am guessing. For me my process started on 2500. I got the monetization email that way. I think it's possible to get the views for this same reason. I have seen many people pushing fake views to reach monetization phase. Apart from that I am guessing it'd surely take time for this type of account limit. Genuine people would wait and fake stolen content owners would buy fake views.

It may be a good thing because there are a lot of channels that exploit YouTube for profit in illegal ways such as stealing videos and re-publishing them. Also posting sites that incite violence and hatred. Therefore, you as a person who wants to advertise on YouTube will not accept your advertisement on such videos.

I mean that's not how you solve the copyright problems.. It doesn't really change anything. The problem with copyright would still remain the same. You are just changing the partnership requirements, you are not changing any copyright rules. Why they did that is because of them having problems with advertisers. Advertisers complained that they are not receiving enough impressions and they aren't making sales etc... so they just wanted to cut the amount of ads displayed on YouTube .. so YouTube to stop that made a decision to make the requirements higher. [ Its just my opinion, not sure whether its true or not ]

I think this rule is to checkmate alot of abormalities in the system especially to bar those that want to take advantage of the system and profit on others sweat and hard work.It a welcome development, atleast only deserving people would benefit from it.

This is true. YouTube's monetization policy states that you need at least 10,000 public channel views to be eligible for the YouTube Partner Program. This policy is in place to ensure that only channels with a significant audience and engagement are able to monetize their content

I think 10,000 page views is not unachievable for a YouTube channel owner that is serious. It is an okay requirement. There was no way one would be given YouTube monetization on a platter of gold. One has to put in some work to get approved to make money off YouTube.

The threshold of 10,000 views before enabling ads helps ensure content quality and authenticity. It encourages creators to build a genuine audience, fostering a better environment for both viewers and advertisers. This policy aims to maintain a higher standard for monetization on the platform.
