Coca-cola vending machines in Australia and New Zealand are accepting bitcoin as a payment option to buy your favorite drink. You have to scan a QR code that the vending machine will display and then crypto from your account will be deducted and transferred to fiat currency to make the purchase. Around 1200 Coca-Cola vending machines in Australia and New Zealand are using bitcoin and also other cryptocurrencies.

This is such a baby step. Like emoney said, using bitcoin (or any crypto really) to buy from a vending machine is not really useful. If they want to encourage the use of BTC, they need to start accepting it for bigger purchases.

It still isn't a bad idea though people like Oliver twist is looking at using Bitcoin for higher purchases, we will get there someday. But it really a welcoming idea

Do people there normally use cards to buy daily neccesities like groceries? I find that weird. But then again crypto debit cards are now a thing so cards will stay a longer time.

As long as groceries accept credit cards then why not, i also came across a lot of of them in Germany accepting that as a payment method

that's the third world but it's the first time to hear that we can buy those things by bitcoin, it's a really interesting

Its very good to see such thing happen, I hope high fees aren't charged when making transaction so it would encourage more people to make use of crypto for purchasing, but will Price fluctuations not affect

Yeah this is the concern when it comes to buying small items with bitcoin, because the cost is low and transaction fees might be equal to the price of the actual item and this would make it infeasible. In these cases i think that dogecoin has the best transaction fees for such small payments. Hopefully they integrate that into vending machines.

The only way to solve the issue is that when people buy with crypto there should be a way to quickly convert to flat currency

They might not convert it but also hold it because they might gaining more than loosing though I wouldn't know how they handle transactions fee because coca cola is not that expensive.

Yeah probably this can be done with coins like doge coins and other smaller coins that have infinitesimal transactions fee not bitcoin.

You know that sometimes it do take more time before the price of bitcoin gets back to its normal form , so if the goods in the vending machine finish they can't be waiting for price ,so how will they cope

Those machines are mostly available in developed countries ,and most underdeveloped countries don't see the need of operating it considering the unstable electricity and cost of repair

It would make sense for these machines to be more in developed countries, especially because most of the crypto users come from developed countries as well.

The underdeveloped countries or developing countries also need the machine as well because there are still some crypto users there also
