WordPress noindex can be useful for private content that you only want to share with close friends or family, but not publicly on Google. You can also set how the bots should handle links on your WordPress site.

If you don't want a WordPress site to be indexed on Google and the other popular search engines, WordPress noindex can offer a way to do this.

The source code of the WordPress page to be hidden must be above the body in the <head>: <meta name="robots" content="noindex">

In order for your own WordPress site not to be found on Google, no post may have been published yet.

To hide the entire WordPress site, there are plugins like Yoast SEO or Rank Math, which are easier to use and work just as reliably as WordPress noindex. For individual contributions, however, the method is practical.

Step by step instructions to enable WordPress noindex:

1.
Open the WordPress dashboard by adding /wp-login.php to the back of your WordPress domain.

2. Enter your personal access data, which will take you to the WordPress backend.

3. From the list on the left, click Settings.

4
. A window will open in which you can configure the visibility of your WordPress site for search engines in the lower right area. Check the box to turn on WordPress noindex.

5.
If your WordPress site is already indexed on Google, deactivating the permission to crawl has no effect - your WordPress blog can then be found publicly via search engines.

Normally your wordpress website wont be indexed in google search or any other search engine. You dont need to install noindexing plugins on your website. So if you want private website,it will be private. You dont need anything special, just dont put it in google crawler.

I'm actually hearing about it for the first time. The question that keep coming to my mind while reading is that why would a person create a website when he or she don't want it to be index or show up on search engine. I don't believe that a person will create a website just to share contents with few friends and possibly family.

Simply pick "Noindex" from the pull-down box that is located under the "Meta robots index." After that, select "Nofollow" from the menu under "Meta robots follow." The search spiders will now be told to avoid following or indexing the content of this page. Change "robots" to "Googlebot" if you want to conceal this content from Google but not from other search engines. This will restrict access to only Google.
