I have tried all well known Localhost Servers, MAMP for Mac; LAMP for Linux and WAMP for Windows. They all work fine, the problem is that they are slow and I haven't found an alternative yet.

hi i used XAMPP , very fast and that depend for what you want to use
for me i used XAMPP for locathost and WAN too
i instaled NO-ip to be online every day
that was funny to share my web site

Hello, I tried XAMP, it looked promising but I didn't get it to work, I don't know about WAN and No-ip.

ok you know that evry time you connect to internet you have a deferent ip adress not the same every time you rebot your router
so to resolve that problem we need no-ip
no-ip is a service there is free and payed plan you choose what you want
for free you have 3 dns you creat somthing like joehue.ddns.net (for exemple)
and you install no-ip client in you computer
so your website will be joehue.ddns.net every time no change
and there is a gogle servece to short this address
and for wan is just internet

I have worked on xampp server for working on my php sites and i found it fast even my site was linked with mysql database and insert, update and delete actions were performing fastly.

XAMPP may be a nice choice. I am used to Apache2Triad cause no manual setup needed. all starts automaric but some antivirus suggests it has virus plus no updates from Apache2Triad seems dead. So I prefer XAMPP now.

ya you need to use Dynamic DNS. and you need to open port on router to be able to use your website from internet

XAMPP works really fine and also PHPSTUDY this guys are both fast maybe it depends on the resources you are using you also need to consider the server memory and core if you want faster response from the server
