❓ASK What should I be doing to get my first Traffic?

If someone is not well versed in SEO then the best thing to do will be to hire an expert. If you are willing to pay someone then I will advise you to check SEOclerks. There are many members offering their services over there. You will be able to view their profile and the good reviews left by others.

i totally agree. it's really hard to build an audience.

it is, but once you managed to do that the audience just comes to you from nowhere because they have heard about your website inevitably. but before reaching that point, it is quite an annoying struggle to reach success

The first traffic source I used (that was 3 years ago) was commenting on forums. Since then I tested many sources. And forums remains one of my favorites. And the reason is simple: laser targeted traffic.

if you make a site around something (niche), there should be tons of forums dedicated to that niche.

Another good source is social media. I personally use Instagram. It's been growing a lot and engagement is high. We can easily redirect followers to our websites. YouTube is excellent, especially if your website has media content. In the description box, you can leave the link of your website.

one cannot promote sites without social media these days. there are so many people using social media that it doesn't seem to be a choice anymore whether you promote your site there or not, but a must

Using signatures in the forum and the blog commenting can be one way. But requires a lot of effort though. some of the time traffic is not going to be consistent. and we have to consider how the flow of the traffic goes for the conversion into revenue. if that works out then surely it's good.

To get your first traffic, share the link on all your social media account, especially on Facebook.make the heaing or title has catchy as possible and try to make the article very interesting and valuable, let your readers have the cause to return to read and if possible refer friends to read your site.

These days even the small amount of forums and the blogs can make a good traffic source. as long asyou are going to make use of them. that can be good enough on that point. I personally see the traffic source such as that for more effective means.

You should also consider adding blog posts to Pinterest. Very good site for traffic. The key is to keep adding content so that eventually your site will be considered to be an authority site. I have two or three articles on my websites that Google seems to love. The traffic just keeps coming from those articles without any intervention from myself.

From what I read, Reddit became also good source of traffic for websites. Since there is a lot of subreddits, you can target your audience.

yes, it is, Reddit is an awesome place for that but only if you have something specific for that subreddit - some specific reason for which the users should visit your website. otherwise spam is strictly prohibited

Those rules should be worth for every site, not just for Reddit. Reddit has very good administrators and they do very good their job. It's very hard to spam something on Reddit.

IMHO its actually pretty easy. When you have a few accounts and know a few subreddits you can guess how hard the mods come down on certain stuff.
Key-rule to follow is that your post has to be relevant. I like to make short articles and add links in between in there that actually help a redditor find more information. They appreciate that, and you get an upvote.

Just make sure to farm your account on /r/askreddit or /r/awww /r/pics to get some starting karma.

What most people forget here is that Reddit traffic is not really valuable, they check your site, and leave again.
They wont social share, wont click thro, nothing. You really have to know what makes them click through before the traffic gets a bit useful.

So at least they can get your statistic looks better. It' good for owners who want sell their site. It's real traffic and not fake so it's gives better value.

Its not reoccurring traffic. So not sure how much it would be worth to a webmaster.
To make it interesting you have to hit frontpage every day, and from personal experience I can tell you that is impossible unless you are a legend at making content.
Most I can do is like once or twice a week.

To bring traffic to your site, you should first decide your budget. Here's what you can do:

Create a blog section on your website and post regular relevant content on it.
Make business profile on Social Media and create Facebook Ads.
You can also target people using Google Adwords.

And even post on relevant niche forums and join different groups related to your niche as well.

It is not that easy to bring traffic to your sites. If you want fast traffic you should post your sites links on Facebook,Twitter etc or you should buy advertisement to promote your sites.Traffic comes in time...

First traffic will be always from social networks. You can share your blog with your friend circles.
And search engine traffic are the most organic so submit your site to all top search engine and work on it to rank your page high, so that it will be visible on search results.

I agree you should use social media, but try paid social media. As an example you can buy ads on Facebook, which is better then just randomly posting in groups or on your timeline because the ads will be targeted.
