I'd say social media is lot better strategy. You can promote your content say on twitter and facebook. That way you can see that it'd be reasonable to manage the movie site more effectively. You can get people to discuss on the comments. This way you can have more advertising reach. I have found that those type of the tactics still work with niche movie sites. Like say horror movie reviews or scifi mmovie reviews type of site.

What kind of website are we talking about ? Website where others can watch tv shows / movies ? Website where you write articles about movies / reviews ? If its the second one then social media websites would be a good place to share your website and rank up faster.Make sure your posting your website often since that way you create backlinks which help your website to rank up.

Retain the permalink. thaat's the only SEO change that may matter. because google doesn't have to reindex in such case. so make sure you do that. I'd say there are many other ways but depending on how you manage it would be lot different in that case.

If it's copyrighted content try promoting your website on social media, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, that's the only way i know.
Change the movies description so it's unique, make your website fast and make the ad minimum and not intrusive if your website is new.

Google does not rank movie downloading site because they contain piracy. You can do marketing by do forum posting or gather visitors from reddit,qoura,telegram etc. BUt
You write movie review then do normal basic SEO for rank your site
