When you first join the online workforce and want to make money with a website, affiliate marketing, blogging, or even vlogging, it can be a difficult choice. Each adventure you undertake has some major learning curves, ups and downs, and many disappointments. Therefore, before you decide on what you want to do for your content marketing efforts it is best to explore the different possibilities. In this tutorial, I'll be talking about blogging and vlogging. What is the difference between the two, which is best to choose, and how they differ?

What Are Blogging and Vlogging?

I'm sure everyone by now knows what a blog site is and how to create one. There are many different ways you can host a blog site, post content, and choose a niche for your site. However, Vlogging is very similar to blogging, but with vlogging, you care to create video blogs. Each one of these strategies is effective and can earn you money and drive more visitors to your website.

As a website owner, they now use blogs and vlogs to help drive more traffic to their website. Once your website is up and running it is now time to decide which is best for your site. Should you create a blog or a vlog?

Choosing Your Subject:

On your site, you want to create content that will engage your audience. On a blog site you can easily:
  • Write product reviews.
  • Provide instruction or how to article to help your readers.
  • Provide updates for the products.
  • Give advice.
  • Give long and detailed information.
  • Great for research and giving details about a country or a subject matter.
However, if you want to show a product, how it works, or even how to make a cake or even a craft, it is not so easy to write out the instruction. Therefore, it is a great idea to make a video to do this for you. This is a vlog that you can show on your site or on any video hosting company such as YouTube. Instead of writing out your content, you are giving visual content for a person to follow along. If you own a craft blog this is a good way to show a person how to make a new craft project. People who own cooking blogs will use this method to teach a person how to cook a new dish.

Skill Levels:

If you want to create a blog site you should have the following skill level:
  • Being a great writer is a must. You need to produce blog content that is error-free and easy to read. You can't add content to your site that has misspelled words or is filled with grammar errors.
  • Blog sites take time to write the content and proofread your work before it is posted online.
  • Having a knowledge and understanding of web design is a must. There are many free sites out there that offer you a way to host a blog site for free and they also supply you with the software to do this with. But unless you have a little knowledge and can modify your design, the site won't be very interesting at all.
  • Knowledge of SEO and how to use keywords in your content. You'll need to work hard to improve your blog so that you can rank well with Google. You need to drive traffic to your site in order to rank with search engines.

To create a vlog you'll need the following skill levels:
  • No need to worry about being a fantastic writer, all you need to care about is having charisma so that people will watch your videos.
  • You'll need to know how to create an entertaining video that people will want to watch.
  • You will need to have the appeal on the camera and be able to talk to people and keep them entertained. If you can't write a script to do this, then it is best that you stick to blogging instead.
Investment and Cost:

Vlogging can be a bit expensive to get the necessary equipment and software for filming and editing your videos before they are posted online. Furthermore, if you want to attract a large audience, you may need to invest in a set so you can film on the set. This will all depend on you and what you are trying to do.

Blogging is a bit cheaper, but you still need to invest in a hosting company and pay for your domain name registration. The price will depend on the hosting company you choose and how much space you require for your site.

Conclusion:

Both blogging and vlogging offer you the opportunity to make money online doing what you love to do. You just need to consider what you want to offer your readers or your viewers before you decide which is best for you. Just keep in mind, no matter what you choose they will both take a large amount of work to find followers for your blog site, or subscribers for your videos.

Which do you recommend - blogging or vlogging?

Vlogging is very different from Blogging. You earn more money on Vlog & get publicity and became famous. While blog your articles are being reviewed and get paid . theres a lot of uppotunity on Vlog. You became instany celebrity if your vlog got connected millions of fans

Your explanation makes it look easy. Does someone need more followers before they can start vlogging? What niches can attract more views to a video?

You'll need enough resources for vlogging, but it is a good idea and can earn a lot if you make it viral. Blogging on the other hand, takes time and patience and continous maintenance, but pays well. Just remember, do what you enjoy the most and choose a niche that you personally like so you can provide quality content. Don't just get what viewers/readers like, get them to like what you do.

What should I choose for my next online venture... blogging or vlogging?

I once tried to Vlog, but I don't have the right skills to edit and so on, but this is something interesting and if this is your cup of tea, invest on it and be happy! :D

to maintain a blog it might cost you around $25+ a year for domain ,hosting, SSL security, email and you need writing skills but for a vlog in order to advance you will need an expensive camera which might cost few thousands of dollars if you want to deliver image quality and you need to edit videos .
So it is more expensive and more time consuming to build a successful vlog but if you target international audience you could earn better with vlog than from a blog.
Remember ,google sends traffic according to a demographic rule. If you are from Croatia ,the chances to find a vlog/blog from Taiwan are very small unless the vlogger/blogger has targeted international audience, starting by using english language.

Someone don't need to have even 1 subscriber to start vlogging. Watch the "The Richest" channel in YouTube. Every week, they get hundreds of thousands of subscribers and millions of views. Their videos are about amazing things.

Blogging means making money by writing and vlogging means making money through videos ,however the best is vlogging as millions are attracted to learn by seing videos -i am also making money by vlogging in youtube which is most profitable than blog, thanx !!.

Also, do I need to upload a video of me or I can vlog while the video is about something else? I mean, is it compulsory for people to see me?

From the reviews here, it obvious that both are lucrative but blogging is flooded with lots of people into it but if you have the patience and skill I advice vlogging cos it growing and has full potential.

In my country, there is very high competition in blogging than vlogging. So I know someone can make good money when they choose to vlog. :D
I think it is the same situation in my country too.I have seen on the Youtube channel some vloggers with pretty larger number of followers,I think, that blogging is much more popular. If more people would do videos in English,I think vlogging will be even more trendy in my country.

So you mean they vlog in your local language? They might be trying to target people and views from that country only. :D Or maybe, some people do not know English very well in the country so they feel it is fair not to vlog in English :D

you can connect your blog with your youtube channel and drive traffic from youtube to your blog and from your blog to your channel

That would work. Blogging is the most trusted form of getting traffic to your website or offer. It's also a great tool for SEO. The only problem is that it takes so long to rank.

You are absolutely right.Even if you are doing Seo for your blog,it may take so much time, even years to rank in the front positions of the Google. So,it is better to try out different advertising network,to bring traffic to your blog, which may cost a lot. There is no results guarantee. But many people, who have some budget try this way to earn something from their blog.

I suggest vlogging. However, you need to have video shooting skills, video editing skills and create videos on the topic that can go viral.
Hi and good day friend! for me its Depends in what passion what you have or like if your in writing a shy person dont want too see by many your Introvert blogging is for you ! But if your Not a camera shy ,extrovert and attention seeker . Vblogging is for you! but you need to invest in high hd cameras editing and so on and you should have a Unique niche for your viewers to gain more popularity and off course thousands of money in the future!

If you're more into filming your trips then vlogging will work better for you. As to blogging, if you like writing and you know more about SEO then it'll best suit you.

I think,it is important to do what you like the most.Though I think sometimes you can't do what you like the most, that's why is important to try out different things,to see which one works out for you the best. That's why it would be good to try both blogging and vlogging too.

I think you can. I saw some youtube videos on a couple of blog pages. I think this is really great when it comes down to getting traffic. People are moved by what they see.

Yes,that can be a good idea.I have never heard of this before. It is important though,to make some unique videos, that capture the people's attention and remain in their minds,in a positive way.If you want to drive traffic to your blog,it is better to make sure that you have a chance, that people return to your blog and videos without being paid for this.

I need to check out this vlog thing. Is it something like blogging? What would be the difference between the two. Maybe I can use it for my business.
