When you first join the online workforce and want to make money with a website, affiliate marketing, blogging, or even vlogging, it can be a difficult choice. Each adventure you undertake has some major learning curves, ups and downs, and many disappointments. Therefore, before you decide on what you want to do for your content marketing efforts it is best to explore the different possibilities. In this tutorial, I'll be talking about blogging and vlogging. What is the difference between the two, which is best to choose, and how they differ?

What Are Blogging and Vlogging?

I'm sure everyone by now knows what a blog site is and how to create one. There are many different ways you can host a blog site, post content, and choose a niche for your site. However, Vlogging is very similar to blogging, but with vlogging, you care to create video blogs. Each one of these strategies is effective and can earn you money and drive more visitors to your website.

As a website owner, they now use blogs and vlogs to help drive more traffic to their website. Once your website is up and running it is now time to decide which is best for your site. Should you create a blog or a vlog?

Choosing Your Subject:

On your site, you want to create content that will engage your audience. On a blog site you can easily:
  • Write product reviews.
  • Provide instruction or how to article to help your readers.
  • Provide updates for the products.
  • Give advice.
  • Give long and detailed information.
  • Great for research and giving details about a country or a subject matter.
However, if you want to show a product, how it works, or even how to make a cake or even a craft, it is not so easy to write out the instruction. Therefore, it is a great idea to make a video to do this for you. This is a vlog that you can show on your site or on any video hosting company such as YouTube. Instead of writing out your content, you are giving visual content for a person to follow along. If you own a craft blog this is a good way to show a person how to make a new craft project. People who own cooking blogs will use this method to teach a person how to cook a new dish.

Skill Levels:

If you want to create a blog site you should have the following skill level:
  • Being a great writer is a must. You need to produce blog content that is error-free and easy to read. You can't add content to your site that has misspelled words or is filled with grammar errors.
  • Blog sites take time to write the content and proofread your work before it is posted online.
  • Having a knowledge and understanding of web design is a must. There are many free sites out there that offer you a way to host a blog site for free and they also supply you with the software to do this with. But unless you have a little knowledge and can modify your design, the site won't be very interesting at all.
  • Knowledge of SEO and how to use keywords in your content. You'll need to work hard to improve your blog so that you can rank well with Google. You need to drive traffic to your site in order to rank with search engines.

To create a vlog you'll need the following skill levels:
  • No need to worry about being a fantastic writer, all you need to care about is having charisma so that people will watch your videos.
  • You'll need to know how to create an entertaining video that people will want to watch.
  • You will need to have the appeal on the camera and be able to talk to people and keep them entertained. If you can't write a script to do this, then it is best that you stick to blogging instead.
Investment and Cost:

Vlogging can be a bit expensive to get the necessary equipment and software for filming and editing your videos before they are posted online. Furthermore, if you want to attract a large audience, you may need to invest in a set so you can film on the set. This will all depend on you and what you are trying to do.

Blogging is a bit cheaper, but you still need to invest in a hosting company and pay for your domain name registration. The price will depend on the hosting company you choose and how much space you require for your site.

Conclusion:

Both blogging and vlogging offer you the opportunity to make money online doing what you love to do. You just need to consider what you want to offer your readers or your viewers before you decide which is best for you. Just keep in mind, no matter what you choose they will both take a large amount of work to find followers for your blog site, or subscribers for your videos.

Which do you recommend - blogging or vlogging?

I think Vlogging is an interesting venture to embark upon. It still takes just as much effort as Blogging, but you've got to show your face, and you have to have personality. I also think a lot of people enjoy that type of blogging because you get to feel more connected to the person that is doing the Vlog, and they kind of feel more like friends than a stranger. So I think you should shoot for the Vlogging this time around.

Depends on what your blogging topic or niche if we have to broaden it a little. If you intend to post lots of game tutorials, DIY stuff, technology stuff or anything that needs a lot of visual content then I'd recommend choosing a Vlog because users will find your content more helpful if they can actually see how something is done.

If for example you want to show someone how a phone is operated video would be the better medium.

If your Vlog won't fit any of those categories then it would be wiser to choose a blog, create for a few videos from time to time and if site visitors like the videos, you could start a Vlog and use your blog to promote it.

Blogging is difficult at this stage because of no PR update and takes a long time for developing while Vlogging is easier for developing, making money too. Blogging is tough in developing and more money, time is require, although in these days so many bloggers are failed due to Google updates.

Please concentrate on both blogging and Vlogging. Never put all the eggs in one basket.

It really comes down to what your blogg or vlogg is about, but vlogging has really taken off and it has become very popular. If you feel comfortable with doing vlogging, go for it.

These days, you may want to have both. Whichever content and media format you feel people will be more likely to view or want to see, the more you'll want to select one or the other. If your content is more scholarly, how-to'ish, or literary in nature, then you may opt to just do an occasional video to place on the blog between content you write or provide there, and then just focus on SEO or SERP for the blog.

If you find that you enjoy doing video blogging more, then you can have a blog that just has the structure and order as a landing page that you need, and then make most of your content the videos that you really want to do.

You can have fun being you on camera and making videos, but the videos are by no means limited to having a web cam. There is software called Camtasia and Camstudio, and another one called Bandicam which let you record your desktop and make videos that way. You can record from the microphone, or import an mp3 or wav file to the video feed after you record it to make it complete. If you feel that you'd rather make videos that way, you can still vlog like that (and many people do) successfully.

It's up to you and the type of content you want to provide, but I would probaby start with both of these and then see what the users want and where the content takes you to develop your niche or brand from there. :)

You can start vlogging with basically a smartphone that has a good camera and an Youtube account or Facebook account.

I think I will try vlog. I begun a blog, Simply MEW. From a relative and close friend was advise to show my project LIVE. I will try it.. Thxs

Vlogging seems to be a good idea. You can surely get the good MIC or some camera. Even the phone camera would do. Make sure it is good enough with memory. And try to practice with 2 min log. And then upload it. See how the response is for your content. Same is the case with the blogging. You can see that if you persist then surely you can add up on vlog like this way.

Vlogging is the current trend, people can be lazy and avoid reading, so they prefer listening.
They also love the close contact a video (or live stream) allows. The more you look real, human, the more successful you become! These days, most of the time, it's your face that sells, not the product itself.
It takes more effort to record a video, you don't just need a script, you may have to edit the video to make it more enjoyable. And it may take several attempts before you create a nice video to post.
I'm not sure you should stick with both, I tend to not read the blog of a vlogger and vice versa. :D

Actually it depends on you! what is more interesting for you and you are comfortable to do, if you love to do blogging then stick on that if vlogging then stick on that, to get success stick on to any one. Choose the way you can perform well to get success.

What should I choose for my next online venture... blogging or vlogging?
I think you should try your luck on both of them and after that see for yourself which is going better for you.You may have success on blog or maybe vlogging, but you have to try it out.
We can see many successful people on internet on both :eek:n blogs and on vlogs too...Good luck!

Personally, either of the two can be profitable. It depends where you are comfortable. If you like more writing then do it. If you want film yourself and vlog things much better because you can gain more viewers.

Blogging > mostly people can do it.
Vlogging > not everyone does that.

You should go for Vlogging it's not that easy compared to Blogging but more worth if you're putting your hard work. And it's more interest gaining for visitors.

I agree that both Vlogging and Blogging equally take up time and effort to put forth, good interesting content to catch a reader or viewers eye to keep them interested in channel or Blog. So, Yes, both can be lucrative if interesting topics and material are chosen.
