Hello mates!!
So I recently visited the institution that looks at tax in my country, its called zambia revenue authority (Z.R.A).And in the constitution it stipulates that anyone earning above $250 is supposed to be paying tax(actually even lower that that).I asked them if i was earning online and above $1000 dollars a month where did i fall?I was amazed that there is no direct provision and i was advised to write a letter in person indicating the country paying me,online platform and company or platform name and declare my payments.
Share how this is done in your country and indicate, the authority that looks at tax, what minimum threshold is taxable and how you handle your tax.

Mine is called the Directorate General of Taxes. People here who don't make 3,723 USD per year are declared tax free. I've yet to find out about online income tho.

@Emoney thanks for let us know, wow you country has a good threshold. Also looking forward to know how you wil handle your tax if your are earning online. Thanks

In my country have not seen such type of tax ,but all I know is that when you works in a company there are some taxes you are bound to pay I don't know of online earning

When I purchased a domain some years back and hosting I was charged up to 2% vat was deducted and that goes to the government ,so they have means to get tax payment from citizens

In Here , you need to submit your tax return forms attested by a on post officer of rank 17 ( highest rank 21 ) if you earn more than 600$ per year , the tax rate is 4% of the annual income

Wow there are some country i have visited, which they do deduction of up to some percentage and its monthly income

Zambia has the following direct taxes: Company Income Tax, Personal Income Tax, Withholding Tax, Presumptive Taxand Property Transfer Tax. All individuals are liable to tax on personal income after deducting personal relief at a graduated rate from 0 percent for incomes of K39600 per Annum (K3300 per month) and below.
You know so much thanks mate, any particular link to Zambia at a personal level or rather are you Zambian?

Well, there's a tax law in my country but it's not enforced on individuals. Your online income belongs to you but you pay value added tax for every goods and services you purchase.

The authority that deals with taxes in my country is the Unified Revenue Service and we too don't have a solid tax system specifically for remote and online work. I've explained this on another thread - but in order for you to be taxed, the government would have to be aware of this kind of earning. Having said that, the threshold that is charged is similar to your country's. So I've never felt the need to declare my earnings. The thing is, some countries - maybe not Botswana or Zambia - are so corrupt, the officials would tell you a figure, you'd pay it, only for them to pocket it ? ?

It is actually not a joke but very one hundred percent true. The thing is that alot of these revenue collectors siphone these resources and plunge or deprive the economic growth of the country due to less revenue being collected. Just recently in Zambia a Tunker track carrying metric tonnes of fuel was apprehended in the capital because it did not pay duty and revenue authorities and clearance agents were the parties that facilitated this dubious deed to take course.

That's so sad and unfortunate?? I just pray that the unscrupulous officials are caught and get exactly what's coming to them. Their greedy actions can easily bring down the economy. I hate when people in positions of authority exploit the system for their own good, regardless of the impact on the country!

Your question falls under the Income Tax Act.

Income Tax Act(Chapter 323 of the Law of Zambia) is a legislation that governs the control of income taxation in Zambia. Income Taxation is tax made on profit by self employed individuals, partnership, government & private employees and limited companies. And all profit making individual have a legal obligation to pay income tax on profits.

Way to go @Makaliki its really nice to quote those Acts it helps for someone to substantiate their point of argument as to wether what they are saying is in line with the law.To add on the tax rate currently is still at zero percent forsomeone earning upto k39000 kwacha annum.Meaning all those getting K3000 every month will be immune for that law to apply on.

I'm so glad you got it clarified because at least now you guys can compare notes and derive from your discussion the most accurate information. It also sounds very similar to our situation here.

Indeed it is good to learn some of these things so that you are not caught up with the law.

Apparently what made me start preparing by ensuring that I got sufficient financial information was when someone promised with only an investment of $40 dollars they would be Sending me forex signals daily and with a little investment of about $100 i would be making big bucks.Boy was i wrong but luckily I started digging deep and realised it was just a pipe dream.??

From that day hence forth I never installed telegram on my phone nor have a desire to build a techy associated business like a ptc, forum etc.

The Income tax acts is effective on all either Zambian or non, as long as your residence is in Zambia.
